Love, Speak It Aloud
Like sitting on pins and needles.
Lin Su was experiencing the meaning of those four words firsthand.
His mind was completely muddled right now. What kind of contract employer drove their employee around personally?
Through the rearview mirror, Lin Su looked at the back seat piled full of things—shoes, toys, gift boxes, milk, everything. If it were not being transported in a luxury car, people would probably think it was a mobile convenience store!
You thought that was all?
A van was following closely behind them in the rearview mirror. There was no need to guess what it was carrying.
[What is Gu Lin trying to do?]
At that moment, countless reasons to resign sprang into his mind. Besides, this feeling was far too awkward!
Lin Su gently closed his eyes, intending to pretend to nap and avoid the awkward atmosphere.
"You don't need to feel too burdened." The man's voice sounded somewhat abrupt in the quiet car.
Lin Su slowly opened his eyes and glanced sideways at him. "What?"
"I'm only doing what married husbands should do."
Besides, Lin Su had accompanied him back to the old residence. Contract partners should reciprocate.
Mm, that was more like it.
It had nothing to do with anything else.
[That may be true, but we're not really married. There's no need to do all this.]
Lin Su said nothing more. He gave a soft hum and closed his eyes again.
[I hope that batch of suppressants works...]
With a sudden brake, Lin Su lurched forward from inertia and opened his eyes in alarm.
The car ahead had suddenly braked. Fortunately, they had reacted quickly, or they would have crashed right into it.
The car fell silent again, though this time it seemed much colder than before.
Lin Su looked toward the air vent, muttering inwardly whether it was just his imagination.
The person driving remained silent, his thin lips pressed together and his dark eyes fixed ahead. His entire body seemed to radiate coldness.
The car turned onto a remote road. After passing through it, the three words "Dream Home" appeared before them. They had arrived.
After unfastening his seat belt, Lin Su found that the door would not open no matter what he did. Confused, he asked, "President Gu?"
"Put on the ring." His tone was flat, but the command in it was unpleasant.
Lin Su felt uncomfortable, but he understood what Gu Lin meant. After all, it would look strange if only one of the two husbands wore a ring.
[Since he brought me here, Dad and Papa will know about our relationship. Better not make them worry too much.]
He had kept the ring on him. In this contract relationship, he was merely the Party B.
Gu Lin lowered his eyes, took the ring from his hand, and slipped it onto Lin Su's ring finger amid Lin Su's astonishment.
"Get out."
The driver's seat was already empty. Lin Su stood there dazed for a while, only reacting when the back door opened. The moment he got out, Gu Lin happened to look up and spot his earlobes, red enough to bleed. A trace of amusement appeared in his indifferent eyes.
Many children were already gathered at the entrance. They surrounded the two men, tilting up their adorable little faces, their large eyes filled with anticipation.
"Brother Su Su! Brother Su Su!" Someone shouted, and all the little ones noticed him. A group of children ran toward Lin Su on their tiny legs.
Lin Su was used to the children's enthusiasm. He crouched down, his expression gentler than ever—a tenderness that came from the bottom of his heart.
"Kids, long time no see." As he spoke, he opened his arms and embraced as many of them as he could.
The little ones crowded forward one after another, all scrambling to squeeze into Lin Su's embrace.
"Big brother got even more handsome!"
Lin Su said, "Oh, our Xiao Chen has gotten taller again."
"Brother Su Su, I missed you."
Lin Su said, "I missed Xiao Xiaoxin too."
"Brother Su Su, look! This is the airplane I made!"
Lin Su said, "Xiao Qi, that's amazing. Can you teach big brother later?"
Gu Lin silently watched the scene from behind him. Even his indifferent gaze softened, and a faint smile appeared on his expressionless face.
Perhaps even Gu Lin himself did not realize that his gaze had remained on Lin Su the entire time, never leaving him for even a moment.
At that moment, several people got out of the van carrying different things, especially toys. The children cheered in delight and spun around happily, but they were also very well-behaved, standing quietly where they were without approaching.
Anyone seeing this scene would find them adorable, but also heartbreaking. What had such sensible children experienced to become so obedient when they were still so young and playful?
Gu Lin was not good with words, much less with communicating with children. The more he tried to make himself seem gentler, the stiffer his face became.
Lin Su nearly laughed aloud beside him. His almost-smiling expression frightened away quite a few children. Though they liked the toys in Gu Lin's hands, none of them dared approach.
"It's fine. You don't have to smile. Don't force yourself." Lin Su's peach-blossom eyes curved with laughter, gentle and beautiful. Gu Lin stared at him blankly and only knew to nod.
The scene in the distance was witnessed by two men. They exchanged a smile, and much of their original worry faded.
They had watched Lin Su grow up and knew his personality best. They had been shocked when he suddenly said he wanted to bring someone home.
Who the other person was made them even more shocked and worried. Wealthy, his boss, an Alpha—every one of those points made them frown deeply.
Lin Su was a Beta. He would not last with an Alpha, because no Alpha could resist marking an Omega. On top of that, the other man was rich and Lin Su's boss.
Now that they had seen him in person, what showed in his eyes could not be fake. This man liked Lin Su.
Of course, liking him was not enough. Everything still needed to be observed.
"Director Dad, Brother Su Su is back!" He happily tugged on the man's hand, his big, babyish eyes shining brightly.
The man in black crouched down and spoke gently. "Xiao Lin, didn't you miss Brother Su Su? Why aren't you going over?"
Xiao Lin scrunched up his little face. He looked longingly at the crowd surrounding Lin Su, but the moment his gaze fell on the man beside him, he immediately lowered his head and tightly clutched Director Dad's hand. His voice was tiny. "I... I'm scared."
The lively sounds drew closer. Lin Su put down the child in his arms and smiled as he called to the two men, "Dad, Papa, I'm back."
"Mm, it's good that you're back. Your papa has been talking about you every day lately."
Only after approaching did Gu Lin realize how outstanding the two men looked. The man in black was tall and handsome, while the man in white was soft and delicate. Neither looked anywhere near forty; calling them Lin Su's older brothers would not have been an exaggeration.
The man in white stepped on the other man's foot, glared at him, then stepped forward with a smile and patted Lin Su's arms. "Why has our Su Su gotten thinner? Haven't you been sleeping well lately?"
"Or has the food not suited your taste?"
"If work is too tiring, you need to rest properly."
"If there's nothing else to do, get some proper sleep. Young people need more sleep to replenish their energy! It's fine even if you don't come back." His final sentence was noticeably weaker. Everyone present could tell it was the opposite of what he truly meant.
The man in black said, "All right, all right. You're the one who keeps chattering nonstop."
"You're the one with too much to say!" The man in white turned back and glared at him fiercely. The man laughed soundlessly, completely unbothered.
Lin Su's peach-blossom eyes held a smile, and tenderness rested between his brows without a trace of impatience. His voice was soft and gentle, a gentleness Gu Lin had never heard before.
"Dad, Papa, don't worry about me. I'm doing well. I just missed you."
Longing and affection—he would now speak these feelings aloud. Only then could he become closer to the people he wanted to be close to.
