Su Su's Brother, You're Not Allowed to Like Him!
Su Qi, the man in black, casually glanced behind Lin Su. "Is this Su Su's boss?" He was clearly asking Gu Lin.
He stepped forward, still looking calm and composed. His brows softened slightly, and at last, a fairly natural smile tugged at his lips. In a humble tone, he said, "Hello, Uncle. Hello, Younger Uncle. I'm Gu Lin, and I'm Lin Su's boss."
Lin Jin immediately frowned at those words, displeasure appearing on his face.
Feeling the two gazes on him, Gu Lin added unhurriedly, "And Lin Su's boyfriend."
Lin Jin's brows finally relaxed, though his eyes still held a trace of wariness.
Su Qi did not ask anything further. No one spoke, and the atmosphere became somewhat strange.
Gu Lin could sense that the two men before him did not like him, perhaps even could not be bothered to acknowledge him. The moment that thought surfaced, his heart tightened. It was the first time in his life that he had felt a little flustered, though not a trace of it showed on his face.
Lin Su wanted to break the awkwardness. His gaze fell on his father's legs, where a pair of soft little hands could be seen. He made a shushing gesture to the two men, then smiled and crouched down, poking the little boy hiding behind Su Qi's legs. The child seemed terribly shy, burying his face against Su Qi's leg and refusing to come out.
Su Qi and Lin Jin helplessly shook their heads, indulgent smiles appearing on their faces.
Lin Su pretended to cry. "Wuwuwu, Xiao Lin is ignoring his brother now. Brother is so sad, wuwuwuwu."
The adults could tell at once that it was fake crying, but to the child, it seemed real. Xiao Lin immediately popped out, and Lin Su took the chance to wrap his arms around the little body.
"Ah, caught you."
Xiao Lin was stunned. He widened his eyes, puffed out his little mouth in accusation, and said, "Hmph, Su Su's brother is a liar!"
"Little Daddy said lying is wrong!"
Lin Su rubbed his cheek against the soft, tender little face, wearing an expression that said he knew he was wrong. He pleaded, "I know I was wrong. Can Xiao Lin forgive Brother?"
Xiao Lin furrowed his brows so tightly that even his nose wrinkled. Then he suddenly relaxed, folded his tiny arms, turned his head, and gave a soft huff.
"Then I'll forgive you."
Then, with an old-fashioned air, he said, "You're not allowed to do it again, okay? Otherwise, Xiao Lin will never talk to Su Su's brother again!"
"Okay." Lin Su smiled and kissed the chubby little cheek.
Xiao Lin blushed and tightly wrapped his little arms around Lin Su's neck.
Lin Jin pulled Su Qi along. "Come on, let's talk when we get home."
"Okay." Before Lin Su could take a step, he turned to look at Gu Lin, who had not moved. The gentleness had not left his face, and when he smiled, his eyes sparkled. "Gu Lin, let's go."
Gu Lin gave a quiet hum. A ripple appeared in his still eyes. This version of Lin Su felt so real; that heartfelt gentleness made him unable to resist drawing closer.
Gu Lin followed closely behind with light steps. The slight upward curve of his lips was a smile he had not even noticed himself.
Click.
Gu Lin froze for a moment and looked toward the sound. The little radish head perched on Lin Su's shoulder was holding a tiny camera. After being discovered, he was not flustered in the slightest. Instead, he made a face at Gu Lin.
He did not like this older uncle. His face was always so long, and he was not handsome either. Especially the way he looked at Su Su's brother—it was what Xiao Lin hated most, most, most!
Gu Lin pursed his lips slightly. Afraid that his expression would be too tense and frighten the child, and not knowing how to respond to Xiao Lin, he could only move a few steps away and stand beside Lin Su.
Only after entering did they realize that Dream Home was not very large. The courtyard held some old children's toys. To the left was a long corridor that seemed to lead to the dormitories. In the middle of the front yard stood a large building where the children attended class, while the words "Cafeteria" hung above the door on the right.
Just then, a tall, muscular man wearing an apron came out from inside. "Ah, little Su Su is back!"
"Yep, I missed Uncle Zhang's cooking." Lin Su smiled.
Uncle Zhang laughed heartily. "Good, good, good. You'll eat your fill today." His gaze landed on Gu Lin. "And this is...?"
Lin Su answered, "My boyfriend, Gu Lin."
Gu Lin was somewhat pleased, though he did not show it. His chest did straighten considerably as he politely said, "Hello, Uncle Zhang. Just call me Little Gu."
"Good, good, good. Little Gu looks like a fine young man. Today, you can try your uncle's cooking."
"You're showing off again. Hurry up and cook." A man's voice cut off Uncle Zhang.
A man walked out from inside and unceremoniously kicked Zhang Shu. "Go on."
Zhang Shu still wore a beaming smile. "Going, going, going. You all chat; I'll go cook."
Fan Li rolled his eyes, but the moment his gaze fell on Lin Su, he immediately smiled brightly. He ran over, scooped the confused Xiao Lin away, and hugged Lin Su himself.
"Oh, oh, my little darling is back. I missed you to death." As he spoke, he pushed Lin Su away to take a look, concern in his eyes. "Why have you gotten thinner? Is work too tiring?"
Lin Su helplessly smiled as he accepted this uncle's affectionate manhandling, but he could not stop the other man's mouth.
"Is your boss too heartless? Is he exploiting you?"
[Huh?!]
That was Lin Su's first inner thought after arriving here. Gu Lin realized that Lin Su had been worrying and hesitating whenever he heard his thoughts before, and there were only two situations in which he could not hear him.
When Lin Su was unguarded, and when Lin Su was unhappy.
Eavesdropping was wrong to begin with, yet Gu Lin had not only listened but had even heard Lin Su's worries and troubles.
This was also a Lin Su that no one else knew about, wasn't it?
Thinking of that, he felt somewhat improperly satisfied.
He envied everything Lin Su had—people who loved him, people who cared about him. Even Lin Su himself was such a good and gentle person.
The rarest thing in this world was a kind and soft heart. Yet now, the person who possessed such a heart was right by his side.
All of a sudden, he felt fortunate.
After dinner, Lin Su played with the children for a while, then soothed them to sleep one by one, his movements practiced and gentle.
He would be a good father, Gu Lin thought.
In the future, they would have children of their own. Lin Su would be just as gentle with him, wouldn't he?
As he thought this, Gu Lin's gaze fell on Lin Su's flat lower abdomen. His thin lips pressed together as he sank into thought.
At that moment, Gu Lin had completely forgotten about the contract between them.
Just as he was lost in thought, someone tugged on his pants. Gu Lin lowered his head and saw a little fish that had slipped through the net—Xiao Lin.
Xiao Lin raised a hand as though he had something to say. Seeing this, Gu Lin crouched down. The child looked around, both little cheeks trembling. He really was adorable.
No one noticed them. Xiao Lin patted his little chest, leaned closer, and used the sweetest, most babyish voice to say the harshest words into Gu Lin's ear:
"Su Su's brother will marry me someday. You're not allowed to like him!"
After saying that, he ran to Lin Su's side and tightly hugged his waist. When he looked at Gu Lin, his eyes were full of provocation.
