President Gu, This Is My Resignation Letter
Five o'clock arrived, and the frantic pace of work came to an abrupt halt. After a tiring day, everyone had finally reached quitting time.
The company returned to calm. The three people outside had left as well, as though only the two of them remained.
Gu Lin sat across from him. For a moment, it felt as though they had returned to the day of their first "negotiation," except their moods had changed.
Lin Su clutched the resignation letter in his hands tightly, feeling somewhat uneasy. "President Gu, this is my resignation letter."
"Don't worry. Before I leave, I'll train Xiao Jiang properly. The subsequent work absolutely won't be affected."
"As for the contract..."
"I refuse."
Gu Lin's voice cut off the rest of Lin Su's words. He tugged open his collar, his slender fingers leisurely undoing the buttons at his neckline and revealing his sexy collarbones. The mottled marks there crashed straight into Lin Su's vision. His peach-blossom eyes flickered, and the mental preparation he had painstakingly built nearly collapsed.
Lin Su trembled as he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. When he opened them again, he had returned to his gentle, courteous demeanor. His voice was soft. "Regarding the terms of the contract, we have both benefited from each other during this period."
He paid no attention to Gu Lin's increasingly dark expression and continued, "If you need it, I can cooperate with you at any time to deal with Old Master Gu regarding the marriage."
Those were words against his heart. He did not like that old man Gu, and he had met the other members of the Gu Household as well. To be honest, he did not have a favorable impression of a single one of them.
If he had not worked under Gu Lin, he would have kicked even a dog raised by the Gu Household if it passed by him.
Yet Gu Lin heard every single one of those words clearly.
Seeing that he remained silent, Lin Su assumed Gu Lin had been moved and pressed on. "I remember the contract said that Party B could terminate the agreement at any time."
After a long silence, Gu Lin finally spoke. "Have you met an alpha you like?"
Who was it? Han Jin?
Lin Su was wary of Han Jin. How could he possibly like him?
Lin Su smiled faintly, his peach-blossom eyes slightly curving upward as he replied unhurriedly, "Thank you for your concern, President Gu. Not at the moment."
"I've already found the best solution, but it isn't convenient for me to say what it is."
Gu Lin stared at the person smiling gently before him. He did not press further, his expression dark as he seemed to be lost in thought.
"So please sign it. Following the procedure, I'll complete all the work that needs to be handed over this month."
He no longer had anything holding him back. Leaving this place before... was for the best.
Why? Gu Lin did not understand.
After speaking, Lin Su stood up and dipped his head slightly. His eyes and brows carried a smile as he said gently, "President Gu, I'll head back first."
Even after the office door closed, Gu Lin remained silent. His gaze fell upon the resignation letter on the desk, his dark eyes deep and tinged with anger. His slender fingers picked up the paper, tightening little by little until it crumpled. He seemed to have said he refused just now, so...
A white ball of paper traced a graceful arc through the air and landed perfectly in the trash can.
Rejected by Party A.
Mu Xiaomu had not expected her attempt at waiting for a hare to run into a tree to succeed again today. But did that mean the two of them had gotten into another conflict?
It was fine, it was fine. Before getting together, the two of them would always be pushed and pulled to their limits. Besides, the protagonist bottom had once been a Beta. Suddenly realizing he had fallen for an Alpha would naturally leave him feeling lost, especially when that person was his boss.
And besides, Mu Xiaomu shot a vicious glare at the imaginary upstairs floor. In her opinion, that top deserved not to get his wife in bed earlier. First, he had no mouth. Second, he was stubborn as a dead duck. He had clearly liked him desperately for a long time, yet he just left him at his side and watched.
But it was not entirely his fault. Who told the protagonist to end up with such a family and such an old bastard for a grandfather?
"Assistant Lin, getting off work?"
A clear, lovely voice caught Lin Su's attention. It was a woman... Mu Xiaomu.
This world was his world. Regardless of the novel, he should not view anyone through tinted glasses.
"You're not heading back either?" Lin Su wanted to look at the watch on his wrist, only to find it bare. He must have forgotten to wear it this morning because he had been in too much of a hurry.
Lin Su looked up at the clock in the lobby. He squinted at it for a long while until his eyes ached, but he still could not focus.
Mu Xiaomu asked worriedly, "Assistant Lin, are you nearsighted?"
Was this part written in the novel? It did not seem like it.
Lin Su rubbed his eyes and said gently, "It seems so. Looks like I'll have to find time to get a pair of glasses."
"Get glasses?!" Mu Xiaomu raised her voice, and it echoed through the empty lobby.
Her eyes suddenly lit up. A gentle, abstinent bottom in gold-rimmed glasses—he was absolutely her type!
Lin Su did not understand. Was it so surprising that he wanted glasses?
"I, Assistant Lin." Mu Xiaomu swallowed, suppressing her excitement. "I know a pretty good optical shop."
Afraid that Lin Su might have concerns, she immediately added, "It was opened by a veteran ophthalmologist after retirement, so it's absolutely safe."
She could not hide the excitement in her voice. "It's still early. I'll go with you!"
The moment she said it, Mu Xiaomu regretted it. Was she being too eager?
Lin Su pursed his red lips and smiled gently. "Sorry to trouble you."
