A Different Assistant Lin
Lin Su had never expected to wake up in Gu Lin's home. So... Mu Xiaomu knew!
He turned off the alarm and opened WeChat directly. One contact with the highest red notification count sat above all his other friends.
Mu Shuanglin: Sorry, I lied.
Mu Shuanglin: I already knew you were living with President Gu, but don't worry, I'm absolutely not a blabbermouth!!
Mu Shuanglin: Don't be mad~ I really didn't mean to hide the truth from you~
Lin Su sighed softly. It hadn't been easy for the girl to bring a grown man back, so how could he blame her?
I've already handed in my resignation, and this relationship is about to end. It doesn't matter if she knows.
Once I'm gone, even if people gossip about me, I won't hear it. But would they talk about Gu Lin too, as the boss...?
Ugh, why am I thinking about this? It has nothing to do with me anyway.
Gu Lin's hand froze outside the door. Looking at the hangover soup in his hand, he slowly lowered the hand raised to knock, then finally turned and left.
Lin Su put on the glasses. The whole world became clearer, and he could even make out the license plate of the car driving away downstairs.
It was Gu Lin's car. He had left so early today.
Lin Su went downstairs. Breakfast had already been neatly laid out on the table. Today, he didn't need to rush, so he picked up a piece of bread and ate it slowly, chewing each bite carefully.
"Xiao Su, you're awake! Come, come, drink this first."
Lin Su looked over. Auntie Liu approached with a bowl in hand, her face full of kindly smiles. He stood and accepted it.
"What is this?"
Auntie Liu smiled. "Hangover soup. Drink up."
Lin Su's feelings were complicated. Under her expectant gaze, he finally drank it all and said gently, "Thank you."
"Hey, don't thank me. Xiao Gu cooked it himself this morning. I watched him from the side—I even wanted a bowl myself." Seeing Lin Su's dazed expression, she added, "If you want to thank someone, thank him."
Auntie Liu waved her hand with a smile. "All right, all right, I won't say any more. Eat your breakfast." Chuckling, she prepared to leave. After taking a few steps, she turned back and gave him a thumbs-up.
"Handsome!"
Lin Su was somewhat baffled. He remained absentminded all the way there, only snapping back to himself after entering the company and hearing people nearby whispering as they looked at him.
"Assistant Lin! Assistant Lin!"
It was Mu Xiaomu.
Lin Su turned to look, drawing another round of amazed gasps. Completely confused, he walked toward the front desk.
"Wow!" That critical hit was absolutely insane, okay?!
He was startled, then smiled. His voice was gentle. "What are you talking about?"
As soon as he spoke, Mu Xiaomu and the others all tilted their heads back and covered their noses, muttering something under their breaths.
What was going on? Was he strange today? Had he failed to wipe his mouth after eating?
"Assistant Lin, c-could you not smile?" Xiao Wei at the front desk said, covering her nose.
"Uh, all right." The smile faded from his face, though his eyes and brows still carried a gentle warmth.
The group pushed their luck further. "Assistant Lin, would you mind if we took a picture?"
Lin Su paused slightly, then smiled. "You've taken quite a few in secret already, haven't you?"
"As long as you're not using my photos to catfish people online, it's fine."
Mu Xiaomu showed no restraint, becoming the first person to openly take advantage of the situation. She raised her phone and started snapping away furiously.
She even directed Lin Su's micro-expressions as she shot. The photographer crouched one moment and lay flat the next; anyone unaware would have thought they were filming some grand production.
Within minutes, several more employees had gathered at the front desk. Lin Su was helpless. He knew he looked good, but surely they didn't need to photograph him for this long?
He looked up at the clock, lightly coughed into his fist, and adopted a serious expression. That prompted a collective sharp inhale from the crowd, followed by an intense barrage of clicking shutters.
"Everyone, it's getting late. Aren't you going to clock in at your departments?" His gentle words carried the faintest hint of lethality.
The crowd snapped a few more photos before finally shifting their attention from the handsome man himself to their phones.
Then, throughout the morning, every company group chat, large or small, exploded. The instigator behind it all remained completely unaware.
Of course, it wasn't that he wasn't in any group chats. He simply rarely checked them, especially since some involved Gu Lin and were inconvenient for him to respond to.
Lin Su entered the elevator utterly confused, unable to understand what had gotten into everyone at the company today.
Until he entered the assistants' office. Xiao Jiang and the others widened their eyes, swallowed, and said, "Morning, Assistant Lin."
"Morning."
"Morning, Assistant Lin." After saying that, they lowered their heads.
The corner of Lin Su's mouth stiffened. "Morning."
"..."
What's wrong with all of them? They used to drag me into gossiping with them.
Puzzled, Lin Su walked into the office and said softly, "Good morning, President Gu."
"Mm." Gu Lin looked up at him. His pupils contracted slightly before he lowered his head again and continued working. Lin Su failed to notice that subtle change.
...It seems Gu Lin is the only normal one in the entire company.
Time to work. There's still a pile of matters to hand over.
Lin Su had just sat down and turned on his computer when the rustling stopped. A clear, cool voice disrupted his thoughts. "Your resignation letter—rejected. As your superior, my rejection is final."
Lin Su frowned and quietly gazed at the aloof man.
"I'll raise your salary. At the same time, I'll personally sponsor Dream Home."
"There is currently no inhibitor that can control an Omega's heat. Staying by my side is the safest option."
Lin Su's expression darkened further as he listened. His gentle peach-blossom eyes turned cold, and his red lips drew into a sharp line.
"President Gu, do you know what you're saying?"
Noticing Lin Su's increasingly icy gaze, Gu Lin felt flustered and uneasy. It seemed he had said something wrong. His clear voice lacked some of its confidence. "Think it over."
"As long as you stay at Ningli, any condition is negotiable."
Lin Su frowned and said coldly, "I don't understand what you mean. President Gu, you should weigh your words carefully before speaking."
After saying that, his lips curved upward, but there was no warmth in his eyes. "I need to work now, President Gu."
Who are you insulting?! I'm furious!
