The Struggle for the Demon Lord's Throne, Part One

Some time ago, the Great Witch Zhou Yi had led a band of the Witch Race into the Demon Realm. Hundreds of years had passed since then.

With their old enemies gone, Zhou Yi had developed the Witch-Creation Formation. It could not compare with the formation once created by the Twelve Ancestral Shamans, but every thirty-six days, it could produce one Witchfolk. Little by little, the Witch Race began to recover its strength.

Life was peaceful, and their numbers grew slowly. The witches hoped that, after countless years, their race would regain its former glory. But wherever living beings gathered—whether in the Primordial Wilderness or the Demon Realm—conflict was never far away. How could the Witch Race be allowed to develop in peace for countless years?

Far away, at the heart of the Demon Realm, stood the Demon Emperor Hall.

Haotian and Yaochi sat in their respective seats. Below them stood the ancient immortals they had brought into their service, including two Golden Immortals who had once lived in seclusion, Dongguo and Nanguo. Both had only recently entered the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, yet they were the strongest of Haotian and Yaochi's followers.

Looking down at the immortals, Demon Emperor Haotian said evenly, "Several hundred years ago, the remnants of the Witch Race entered my Demon Realm. Their arrival brought new life here, which was welcome. Yet they are remarkably arrogant. In all these centuries, they have never come to pay homage to me, the lord of this realm. What do you make of it?"

Dongguo said, "Since the Witch-Demon War ended centuries ago, disaster after disaster has struck the Primordial Wilderness. Countless beings have entered the Demon Realm. Most came to pay homage to the Demon Lord upon arrival, and many of the rest have done so since.
