Awakening and Significance

A Martial Soul awakens when its bearer reaches six years old. The awakening ceremony also reveals innate soul power, which is treated as the baseline indicator of whether—and how far—a child can cultivate as a Soul Master. A child without even Rank 1 innate soul power is considered unable to pursue Martial Soul cultivation. 1

Martial Soul and innate soul power establish a Soul Master's initial potential, but resources, cultivation methods, Soul Rings, and training remain necessary for growth. Even talented Soul Masters can have their development limited by a lack of resources. 1 106

A Martial Soul may be released through Martial Soul Possession, changing the user's appearance and granting its innate traits. Bai Chen's Dark Demon Evil God Tiger manifestation produces purple-black wings, a tail hook, and a black king character on his forehead. 64

Soul Rings and Soul Spirits

Soul Rings are integral to Martial Soul cultivation. Absorbing a Soul Ring converts part of its energy into a Soul Skill while the remainder raises the Soul Master's cultivation. Natural Soul Rings also enhance the user's physique and spiritual power. 7 11

A Rank 10 cultivator without a first Soul Ring is still a Soul Scholar rather than a true Soul Master. The difference created by even one additional Soul Ring can be decisive in combat. 7 8

Domains

Some Martial Souls possess innate domains. Such domains are rare and signify exceptional Martial Soul quality. 9 136

• Overlord Domain — The Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff's innate domain. It sharply increases strength and defense, grants immunity to pain, raises the power of all abilities by over fifty percent, and suppresses Soul Beast bloodlines. 9 11
• Evil God Domain — Gained by Bai Chen's Dark Demon Evil God Tiger after its Second Awakening. It manipulates surrounding energy, amplifies the user's abilities—especially evil-attribute techniques—and interferes with an opponent's ability to absorb ambient energy. 136

Bloodline Suppression

Beast Martial Souls can exert bloodline suppression against related or inferior bloodlines. The Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff is described as the ancestor of lion- and canine-type Soul Beasts, granting it particularly strong suppression over feline Martial Souls. 185

Ultimate Attributes provide an even more direct form of suppression: an Ultimate Fire wielder can render ordinary fire-attributed Martial Souls nearly unable to fight. 53

Martial Soul True Body

A Martial Soul True Body stimulates the power within a Martial Soul, temporarily raising all of its user's attributes and explosively increasing combat strength. It is presented as the point at which a Soul Master demonstrates their full power. 229

Martial Soul True Body Possession, which allows an Avatar to be used while retaining human form, demands high spiritual power, shortens the Avatar's duration, and divides the user's concentration when casting Soul Skills. 265

Multiple Martial Souls

A secret art held by the Tang Sect can allow two Martial Souls to be used simultaneously. The technique produces a major burst of power but greatly increases soul power consumption. 162

Evolution and Mutation

Martial Souls are not necessarily fixed after awakening.

• Second Awakening — The Body Sect's secret methods can induce a Second Awakening through extreme life-or-death training. A successfully awakened Body Martial Soul is stated to become a Super Martial Soul. 57 133
• Dark Demon Evil God Tiger Second Awakening — Bai Chen's Second Awakening increased his soul power and spiritual power, stabilized the Martial Soul's killing impulse, and awakened the Evil God Domain. 136
• Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff Second Awakening — Its Second Awakening rewrote its racial talents and gave Bai Chen access to the Martial Soul's exclusive black-gold Bloodline Power. 180

• Evil Martial Souls can stir bloodthirst, irritability, volatility, and an urge to kill within their users. Bai Chen had to continuously resist the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's influence with willpower, which also tempered his spiritual power. 70
• Powerful Martial Souls may impose backlash on an owner whose body cannot withstand them. Xu Yucheng's Dark Demon Scythe is so demanding that, despite his Four-Ring cultivation, he cannot endure even a Millennium Soul Ring. 241
• Body Martial Souls can visibly alter their bearers' bodies, sometimes making them appear abnormal even without Martial Soul Possession. 107
