After a brief moment of thought, Zhou Wan spoke the name almost at the same time as Ling Anxin. "Bai Moyu?"
"That's her." Ling Anxin nodded, her tone certain. "In terms of sheer speed and shifting movement techniques alone, even Qu Lin falls short of her."
"I carefully watched several of her matches. Her movement paths are elusive and unpredictable, her bursts of power astonishing, and her close-quarters fighting exceptionally fierce. She excels at finding flaws and striking true in a single blow. If she can successfully launch a surprise attack amid the chaos at the start and hold Lu Qingzhuo back, our chances of winning will greatly increase."
Zhou Wan shook her head. "Bai Moyu is exceptionally proud and arrogant. If we seek her out and suggest joining forces against others, given her temperament, not only will she fail to appreciate it, she may very well see it as us slighting or plotting against her, provoking her resentment.
"Then, not only will cooperation be impossible, she may even list us alongside the obstacles she needs to eliminate first."
"And besides," Wu He, who had stood silently like a shadow all along, to the point that one could nearly forget he was there, suddenly spoke coldly, interrupting the two women's deliberations. "There is no need to trouble ourselves with finding more allies."
He raised his eyes, sweeping his gaze across Zhou Wan and Ling Anxin's faces, and calmly stated a cold fact. "After all, there are only three seats... on the high platform."
The room abruptly fell silent.
Ling Anxin and Zhou Wan exchanged a glance. Both saw the same understanding, along with a trace of helplessness, in the other's eyes.
