In the Nine Domains, beast tamers were rarely seen. Tracing it back to its roots, it was all because bloodlines had gradually withered away.
In ancient times, divine beasts had roamed heaven and earth, majestic and awe-inspiring. Yet now, not a trace of them could be found. Those glorious legends existed only in ancient texts and people's oral retellings.
Among the surviving divine beast bloodlines, those of the finest quality had long since shed their beastly forms and transformed into human shapes, no longer bound by their demon bodies. Thus, the Demon Race came into being. Relying on the unique advantages granted by their bloodlines, they had secured a place in the Nine Domains, with their own distinct cultivation systems and ways of life.
Below them were those with slightly inferior bloodlines, who became demon beasts. Most demon beasts were violent and easily enraged, like volcanoes ready to erupt at any moment, difficult to tame.
Among the countless demon beasts, only a tiny number could be successfully tamed. Those exceptionally rare beings were what people called spirit beasts. Only spirit beasts could possibly be domesticated and taken for use by beast tamers.
As bloodlines withered, the upper limit of demon beasts' strength had already been set in stone, making advancement exceedingly difficult. Wild demon beasts mostly relied on the accumulation of time to cultivate, waiting for fortunate opportunities. Those capable of soaring into the sky in a single leap and breaking through their limits could be counted on one hand.
For talented cultivators, using equally precious heavenly treasures to raise a demon beast's strength brought far less improvement than using them directly on themselves. After all, a cultivator's own cultivation was the top priority. Raising a spirit beast simply had too poor a cost-performance ratio.
Most cultivators were unwilling to
