"What have you been doing in your room lately?"

Su Yu, who had been eating with his head lowered, was suddenly addressed by Gu Lin and felt somewhat flattered. He looked up to see that the Alpha was still eating, as though those words had merely been a casual, meaningless greeting.

Omega lowered his head again and simply shook it, indicating that he had not been doing anything lately.

By now, Su Yu had completely given up mentally and had no thoughts at all. He merely experienced his surroundings through the body's perspective, as if he were playing a story-driven game where he could do nothing. The only difference was that he could occasionally make small movements when Gu Lin was not paying attention to him.

"Is that so?"

Gu Lin did not seem to believe him.

Su Yu did not care what he was thinking, nor could he be bothered to guess. He had always felt that eating was more important.

"Grandmother's birthday is coming up. I'll need to take you there. Don't give yourself away."

Su Yu still had some impression of Gu Lin's Grandmother. Although he had only met her once, the elderly woman had looked kind and benevolent, and she had been generous to him as well. At the wedding, she had even given him a separate large red envelope and told him to visit her more often when he had time.

Moreover, he could tell that Gu Lin seemed especially good to his Grandmother.

Su Yu asked what gift he should prepare.

"Anything."

[Anything? What does anything mean? I have no experience preparing gifts for elderly people.]

[Does Grandmother play games? How about giving her a keyboard?]

[One keyboard isn't enough. I might as well prepare a full set of gaming equipment.]

Of course, the thought had merely flashed through his mind. After all, no elderly person at that age would still enjoy playing games.

Having learned what he was thinking, Gu Lin said coolly, "If you're going to give her something strange, you'd be better off not giving her anything. I'll prepare the gift."

Those words immediately stirred Su Yu's rebellious streak.

[You say I shouldn't give her anything, so I'm definitely giving her something.]

[I'll give her a gift separately.]

Su Yu pondered what elderly people liked, but could not figure it out.

The Alpha glanced at him indifferently. Seeing that Su Yu still had his head lowered and had not even noticed his gaze, he said at the quiet dining table, "Grandmother likes antiques."

[Why does it feel like he can hear what I'm saying?]

Omega looked up at him, faint confusion in his emerald-green eyes. It was both the body's reaction and Su Yu's own.

Gu Lin snorted coldly. "I'm afraid you'll give her the wrong gift and upset her."

Su Yu suddenly understood.

After Gu Lin went to the company, Su Yu went to the garden to check on the poor plant from last time. Then he discovered that an entire row of flowers of the same variety had suddenly appeared on the flower stand.

What was going on?

Why had there suddenly been so many?

Seeing Su Yu's confusion, the housekeeper smiled and explained, "Sir's assistant brought them over. Perhaps Sir knew you liked these flowers, so he bought a batch."

Su Yu did not believe her at all. He merely listened and did not take it to heart.

It seemed Gu Lin was going to commandeer that flower stand. He would have to buy a new one. Before the new stand arrived, he moved the broken potted plant from last time to a new spot.

Su Yu searched online for upcoming auctions and comparable items, only to discover that there would be an offline antique auction in the city next week. Just as he was worrying about how to qualify to attend the auction, Lu Heyun suddenly messaged him to ask whether he had time next week to accompany him to an auction.

Such a coincidence?

Could it possibly be the same auction?

[Su Yu: Is it the antique auction on the first floor of the Congress Center next Wednesday?]

[Lu Heyun: Yes. One of my father's business partners has an elder celebrating a birthday. The elderly person likes antiques, so he asked me to find a birthday gift.]

[Su Yu: Then that really is a coincidence. An elder in my family is celebrating a birthday too, so I wanted to attend the auction. But it seems I can't get in on my own.]

[Lu Heyun: Then why don't we go together? I'll take you in.]

That was wonderful. Lu Heyun had come through just when he needed help.

The moment Su Yu saw that, he agreed without hesitation.

[Lu Heyun: Then it's settled. We'll discuss where to meet later.]

Two days later, when Gu Lin saw a small flower stand on the balcony, he could not help feeling puzzled. His brows furrowed slightly.

Why had Su Yu bought another flower stand and placed the flowers on the balcony instead of keeping them in the garden?

He immediately ordered someone to move the two pots back to the balcony. That afternoon, Su Yu searched for his flowers for a long time without finding them. He rummaged through the living room as well, but still could not see them.

The housekeeper asked what he was looking for, and Su Yu replied that he was looking for his flowers.

"Flowers? Didn't you put them on the balcony this morning?"

Omega signed to tell her they were gone.

"How could they be gone? Perhaps someone put them away. Don't worry, Madam, I'll go ask."

Gu Lin came out of the study and headed straight downstairs to sit on the sofa. Su Yu was still looking for his flowers and had not even noticed him coming down. Gu Lin watched Omega turn things over and search everywhere, messing up the items that had originally been neatly arranged. He looked exactly like a troublesome cat that had caused a mess.

He casually picked up the fashion magazine on the sofa. It seemed to be something Su Yu usually read. Whenever he sat quietly, he liked to lower his head and read magazines. However, after opening it, Gu Lin felt that something about the contents was off.

His gaze paused slightly. He flipped back to the cover as if to confirm it, only to discover that Su Yu had put a fake cover over it.

A useless book harmful to physical and mental health.

Gu Lin uncrossed his legs, then set the book back where it had been with little interest. Su Yu paced around the living room without seeing him. It was not until he knelt on the floor to look beneath the coffee table and felt something behind him blocking his way that he reached back and pushed at it, only to realize something was wrong.

When Su Yu turned around, he met Gu Lin's dark eyes. The Alpha's gaze lowered slightly as he asked in a somewhat deep voice, "What exactly are you looking for?"

Su Yu instinctively withdrew the hand that had been clutching Gu Lin's calf. He moved so quickly that it was as though he had touched a branding iron.

[When did he get here? Why didn't he make a sound for so long? He scared me.]

The housekeeper, who had just returned after asking around, happened to hear Gu Lin's question and hurriedly answered for Su Yu. "Madam is looking for his two potted plants."

Su Yu nodded.

Gu Lin did not say much, only answering with three words. "In the garden."

The housekeeper explained, "Sir had someone move them to the garden today. They're on the flower stand now."

[Why did Gu Lin move my flowers? Could it be that even putting them on the balcony bothered him?]

[What a troublesome man. I just won't move them out next time.]

Gu Lin had originally wanted to tell him that all the flowers on that stand had been given to him to grow, but suddenly said nothing further. His expression grew increasingly gloomy.

[Why does his face look so awful? Could he be angry?]

Gu Lin: "..."
