Yun Shang's aunt saw him to the gate of the house before preparing to leave. Before she left, she reminded him to call her if anything happened, but Yun Shang said nothing and only looked at her.

His aunt stroked his head. "I'll come pick you up once I'm done with work. Your dad will be back by then too, and we'll come together."

She deliberately stood there and waited for a while, waiting for Yun Shang to react, but he merely lowered his eyes without giving any response.

In fact, every time she said something, she patiently waited for Yun Shang's response because he was slow with language. But most of the time, he had no reaction at all.

Having received no response, his aunt slowly withdrew her hand. "I'm leaving now. Take good care of yourself, and listen to your cousin and cousin-in-law."

Gu Lin had driven off to take his aunt to the airport, leaving only him and Yun Shang standing at the gate. Su Yu had just wanted to call him inside, only to find that he could not say a word.

He had forgotten that he was mute.

He used his notes app to communicate with Yun Shang. Yun Shang glanced at it, then followed him into the house.

Since Yun Shang had stayed here a few times before, the housekeeper recognized him. She smiled and asked what he wanted to eat, but Yun Shang did not speak. He simply stood in the entryway with his backpack on.

The housekeeper was not upset by this and still smiled kindly. "Then come in and rest."

Although Yun Shang's mother had already treated him and Gu Lin to dinner, the housekeeper had prepared all his favorite dishes that evening. So he sat down at the table again, even bringing Yun Shang over before she had finished setting out all the dishes.

As for Gu Lin's portion, Su Yu simply told the housekeeper that he had eaten his fill outside and there was no need to prepare anything for him.

While eating, Su Yu noticed that the housekeeper kept looking at him. He even suspected there was something on his face, so he put down his chopsticks and asked why she was staring at him.

The housekeeper pursed her lips and smiled. "I just find it strange that you can get Young Master Yun Shang to move."

Su Yu was puzzled. Could Yun Shang not even be called to eat?

The housekeeper explained, "In the past, even when Mr. Gu called him, he ignored him and stayed in his room. His meals had to be brought upstairs."

That must be because Gu Lin was no good at it. He looks like everyone owes him millions. Calling someone to eat probably sounds like he's collecting a debt. Who would want to pay attention to him?

When has he ever learned to call someone with a smile... Forget it, forget it. He'd probably look even scarier when he smiled.

Su Yu imagined it and found it a little creepy, immediately throwing the thought out of his mind.

Just as Su Yu lowered his head to continue eating, the alpha said while changing his shoes, "Pour me a glass of water."

The housekeeper hurriedly answered, "I'll pour it right away."

Gu Lin said, "No need. Let him do it."

Su Yu's body reacted before he could think. He put down his chopsticks, stood up from the table, and went to pour Gu Lin some water.

"Cold. I don't want it."

"Too hot. Get another glass."

"Forget it. I don't want water anymore. Make me a coffee."

Even the housekeeper standing nearby could not understand what Gu Lin was doing. He seemed to be deliberately making things difficult for Su Yu, yet he had never deigned to do such a thing before. He would choose to ignore Su Yu, then disappear into the study by himself, barely exchanging a word with him all day.

Mr. Gu's behavior had truly become stranger and stranger lately.

Su Yu, on the other hand, had not noticed any changes in Gu Lin. He only felt that Gu Lin was messing with him and that there was something wrong with the man.

He had already gone back and forth with the cup five or six times, only for Gu Lin to end up not taking a single sip and saying he wanted coffee instead.

Standing before the alpha, Su Yu gripped the cup with his fair fingers, applying a little force. If he could find even the slightest chance to get away with it, he would immediately splash this cup of water in Gu Lin's face.

His useless body turned around and went to make coffee for him again.

By the time he returned to the table, Yun Shang had finished eating. After being put through the wringer by Gu Lin, Su Yu had lost his appetite as well.

After dinner, Yun Shang sat on the sofa playing with his Rubik's Cube. Su Yu felt that he could solve a standard three-by-three cube too, so he asked Yun Shang if he could play with it. But Yun Shang only understood that he wanted a Rubik's Cube and did not hand over the one in his hands.

When Su Yu saw no reaction from him, he thought Yun Shang did not want to give it to him. He sat on the sofa, feeling dejected as he played on his phone for a while, wondering why Yun Shang was ignoring him.

"Upstai—" There was one upstairs.

"For you."

Gu Lin had only said one word before Yun Shang interrupted him. He took a six-by-six Rubik's Cube from his backpack and handed it to Su Yu.

Su Yu put down his phone and accepted the cube. He was surprised and happy, like a child who had been given candy. But before Yun Shang spoke, he seemed to have heard Gu Lin say something. He looked up at Gu Lin again, his expression slightly puzzled, as though asking what he had wanted to say just now. Yun Shang looked up with him.

With both of them staring at him, Gu Lin had nothing to say.

"Nothing. It's getting late. Go back to your own rooms and rest."

After saying that, he set down the magazine and went upstairs by himself. Su Yu thought he was being inexplicable and even glanced at the wall clock. It was only a little past eight—far too early.

Sure enough, old people just can't do it. They don't have as much energy as young people.

Gu Lin had the schedule of a stereotypical old cadre. It would have been one thing if he wanted to sleep early himself, but he would not even let others have fun.

Su Yu twisted the Rubik's Cube Yun Shang had given him for a while but could not complete even one face. He felt Yun Shang thought too highly of him. Yun Shang, by contrast, scrambled the cube over and over before solving it again, repeating the same action continuously and restoring it very quickly.

Though Su Yu did not know the point of him repeating that action, he thought Yun Shang was impressive.

Yun Shang stopped. He seemed to realize that Su Yu knew nothing about his six-by-six Rubik's Cube, so he rummaged through his backpack and gave him a two-by-two cube.

Su Yu: "???"

He suspected Yun Shang was insulting his intelligence.
