At business receptions, all he needed to do was serve as decoration. Luckily, he was mute; he did not even need to greet anyone. A nod and a smile were enough.

Even so, Su Yu still felt tired. If it had been before, he would have found somewhere to sit down and eat long ago.

His father used to force him to attend these events and told him to make more friends at the receptions. But Su Yu did not like places like this at all. Whenever he came, he would immediately find somewhere to sit and eat. Father Su could never find him, and every time, he was so angry his teeth itched.

He wondered whether that old man had claimed his body.

Whatever. He had so much money; he could definitely take good care of himself.

Su Yu also ran into members of the Gu family at the banquet. He did not recognize the man exchanging pleasantries with Gu Lin, but he recognized the woman standing beside him. Wasn't she the Second Aunt who had snapped his flowers?

Then this man must be Second Uncle.

Seeing that they were not even linking arms, Second Aunt casually teased, "You two newlyweds have been together for over half a month already, yet you're standing so far apart. Anyone who didn't know better would think you'd only just met."

Gu Lin knew what she was thinking. He saw through it but did not expose her, merely responding coolly, "No need for you to worry about it."

Perhaps still holding a grudge over what happened last time, Second Aunt refused to let it go and continued, "If you ask me, you should stand closer together. Otherwise, people might think Xiao Hui is your assistant."

Su Yu scoffed inwardly.

What a busybody. Does she live by the sea, meddling in everything? What assistant wears a custom-made gown worth tens of thousands? So shortsighted.

Gu Lin suddenly felt that it was truly a pity the Omega beside him could not speak.

"I heard Cousin's company has run into problems again. Instead of staying home to think of solutions, Uncle and Aunt are pointing fingers at my family affairs. Is it because that matter isn't urgent?"

The smile on Second Aunt's face suddenly froze, and the man beside her did not look much better. Truthfully, he had come to this banquet to ask Gu Lin for help, because he could usually never get the chance to see him.

"We'll be leaving first, then."

With that, Gu Lin left with Su Yu.

The man darkened his face. "It's all your fault. Why did you have to say so much?"

"I-I didn't mean to. Besides, even if we asked him for help, he might not necessarily help us."

The man snorted coldly. "Now there isn't even a shred of hope left."

I'm so hungry.

From the moment he entered until now, Su Yu had no idea how many times he had complained about being hungry, as though he had not eaten dinner. Gu Lin mercifully let him go, telling him to meet at the exit half an hour before the banquet ended.

"What a coincidence. I didn't expect to see you here."

Su Yu, who was eating cake while lowering his head to play a little game on his phone, looked up. It was Lu Heyun, whom he had not seen in a long time. His bodyguard pushed him toward Su Yu, blocking a large swath of light in front of him.

If Su Yu remembered correctly, had Lu Heyun changed bodyguards again?

"What a coincidence. I didn't expect to run into you here either."

"Is the cake good?"

In fact, he had noticed Su Yu a long time ago. He had been sitting in this little corner, eating and playing on his phone. His presence was clearly minimal, yet for some reason, Lu Heyun had noticed him at a glance.

After dealing with all the annoying trivial matters, he came to find him.

Su Yu nodded. "Do you want to try some?"

Lu Heyun's gaze fell on the cake in Su Yu's hand. He had already eaten half of it, and there was still a little cream on the knife and fork.

He was a germaphobe.

But... if Su Yu wanted to feed him, he would not mind.

His lowered eyes suddenly lifted. With a faint smile on his face, he said two words, "Sure."

Hearing that, Su Yu set down his own cake and took a fresh piece, thoughtfully preparing a new knife and fork before handing them to Lu Heyun.

"This flavor is the best. I tried them all."

It was not quite what he had expected, but Lu Heyun still chuckled softly and said, "Thank you."
