"Go to bed. You can still get an hour or two of sleep at most," Fang Yun said.
Zhang Jing'an sat in his chair with his head lowered, saying nothing.
Fang Yun continued reading.
These past few days, Fang Yun had been studying the Confucian classics closely. He would soon advance to Grand Academician and needed to decide on the nature of his first Literary Platform as soon as possible.
As things stood, a Confucian Literary Platform suited him best. Even if he formed other Literary Platforms later, they would not conflict with it.
Fang Yun already knew the Classics of the Sages so thoroughly that he could recite them backward. He had read each book hundreds or thousands of times and knew them like the palm of his hand.
Still, Fang Yun felt some regret. The best way to truly understand a Confucian classic was to read its original manuscript, but his Literary Rank was too low. Reading a Half-Sage's original classic too early would do more harm than good.
Apart from reading the original manuscripts of Half-Sages' writings, the best way to understand the Confucian classics was through the famed Stone Classics. Unfortunately, the Human Race currently possessed only two sets, and both were incomplete.
Without a complete set of Stone Classics, none of the nations could use the name "Imperial Academy" and had to call their institutions Academies instead. Even the Sacred Academy's Imperial Academy had been renamed Chongwen Academy.
Unable to obtain the Stone Classics, Fang Yun did not lose heart. It would not be too late to begin studying them after becoming a Grand Academician or Great Scholar. Instead, he focused on reading all the Great Scholars' commentaries on the Confucian classics, learning their explanations of the ancient language and their interpretations of the Classics
