Fang Yun inwardly cursed that old scoundrel Shanzhong Sheng for being full of wicked schemes. He had known perfectly well how difficult this would be, yet had sent Fang Yun anyway. He was probably treating a dead horse as though it could still be saved.
Fang Yun roughly pieced together what had happened.
Shanzhong Sheng had failed to obtain the Purple Heaven Pillar and had been searching for another opportunity ever since. Then someone had traded Pan Kong's true blood for his Sacred Qi Source. After obtaining it, Shanzhong Sheng was still absorbing the true blood of Ancestral Emperor Pan Kong. Once he had absorbed it completely, he would probably return. At that point, Fang Yun had appeared. Discovering that Fang Yun possessed identities among both the Dragon Race and the Ancient Demons, Shanzhong Sheng had wanted him to try first. That was why he had used Nine-Star Mountain as bait and given him the blood talisman.
Having untangled the course of events, Fang Yun frowned.
There was no problem with him acting as either a member of the Dragon Race or an Ancient Demon, but he could not play both roles at once. Thus, while he was claiming the treasure as one side, he needed someone in the other side's camp to help him.
Fang Yun said, "From what you've said, obtaining the Purple Heaven Pillar requires two people to enter the two races' camps separately and keep both camps from interfering with the retrieval, correct?"
The Flood Dragon Woman nodded. "Yes."
