The Sacred Academy's Eastern Sage Pavilion also issued an announcement stating that Fang Yun had written new annotations and commentaries for the four books, combining them into the New Annotations to the Four Books, with editions in both classical and vernacular language. This was the Human Race's first collection of wholly vernacular commentaries on the classics, and each kingdom could decide for itself whether to add it to its academies for students to read.
