What surprised Fang Yun most was not the increased number of ancient corpses here, but their reaction to seeing him.
Previously, the ancient corpses had roared furiously at the sight of Fang Yun, as though desperate to swallow him alive and strip off his skin.
Now, however, they made strange, whining howls like watchdogs when they saw him. They seemed somewhat fearful and even respectful, but showed no hostility whatsoever.

Fang Yun extended his Divine Sense to probe them. As the Star Shepherd's disciple, his Divine Sense was exceptionally powerful, yet he could detect not the slightest hostility from these ancient corpses. Their attitude even felt vaguely familiar.
Back when he had led troops into battle, the soldiers had treated him in much the same way.
Fang Yun puzzled over it endlessly without finding an answer. When he had first arrived here, he had fought a great battle against the ancient corpses. Now, somehow, he had become their leader?
What was the reason?
Fang Yun knew the ancient corpses lacked the intelligence to deliberately lay a deceptive trap, but he remained vigilant as he slowly flew toward an open space and descended.
The ten thousand or so ancient corpses in that clearing immediately stirred. In the end, they gathered together and watched Fang Yun from a distance.
At first glance, they looked like a pack of hyenas trailing a lion, waiting for an opening. On closer inspection, however, they looked more like a school of fish avoiding a shark.
Fang Yun surveyed all the ancient corpses. Every one was at the Fourth or Fifth Realm; none were of a lower realm.
Even in Dragon City, these ten thousand-plus ancient corpses would unquestionably have formed a main fighting force. After all,
