After Snape left, the room felt empty. Chu Yang let the owl out of its cage and started feeding it an extra meal. "Big White Fatty, eat more. If we ever fall on hard times, you'll need to put on more meat as emergency rations."
The owl, which had been wolfing down food with its head lowered, shuddered and silently pulled its head out of the pile of food.
Chu Yang smiled to himself, pleased with his successful prank.
Exhausted, he collapsed onto the bed. His eyes gradually fell shut, and after an unknown amount of time, he vaguely heard someone talking beside him.
"Goyle, Crabbe, although I missed the Sorting Ceremony because I was sick, my father specifically arranged a double room for me so I could rest properly. He even said he'd personally come to the school and give Dumbledore a piece of his mind!"
"When the time comes, I'll definitely have Father clear all those monsters out of the lake!"
"Someone's sleeping in here. Looks like it's my roommate. Let's go say hello..."
The moment the words fell, Chu Yang opened his eyes and saw Malfoy and the other two standing stiffly before him, staring at him in dumbfounded shock.
"So you're my new roommate?" Still bleary-eyed, Chu Yang said impatiently, "You disturbed my sleep, you know that?"
"Sorry!" Goyle and Crabbe bowed ninety degrees in apology at the same time.
Malfoy's family background was indeed impressive.
But at school, Chu Yang's fists were hard too. The two of them understood that very clearly.
"You two cowards, why are you being so respectful to him?" Malfoy, who had just returned from the School Hospital, sounded full of vigor. He clearly had no idea how dangerous his situation was.
By then, Chu Yang had been completely awakened by his booming voice. Sitting on the bed, he watched Malfoy with an unfriendly expression.
"Draco, there's something I haven't had the chance to tell you..." Goyle quietly leaned close to Malfoy's ear and softly recounted the exciting events he had missed over the past two days.
As he listened, Malfoy's expression changed drastically, and all his earlier arrogance vanished. Half-believing and half-doubting, he asked, "Are you kidding me? How could he possibly beat so many people barehanded by himself?"
Goyle and Crabbe shook their heads in unison. Goyle also reminded him, "Draco, you'd better believe it..."
Malfoy wanted to say something else, but Chu Yang, sitting on the bed, pulled a bookmark from his book, wrapped it in Armament Haki, and threw it.
The bookmark shot from Chu Yang's hand like a cannonball and lodged firmly in the doorframe above the three of their heads.
More than half of the bookmark sank into the wooden frame as easily as if it were cutting through tofu.
Malfoy's pupils shrank sharply. Goyle and Crabbe cried out in alarm, and the three of them held hands as they backed toward the door step by terrified step.
"Sorry, I'm a little grumpy when I wake up." Sitting on the bed, Chu Yang looked at him with a half-smile. "What are you standing there for? Come in and sleep. It's so late already!"
Then he turned to Goyle and Crabbe. "What? Are you two planning to stay and sleep here too?"
The moment he said that, the two big white fatties immediately abandoned the trembling Malfoy beside them and turned to flee without hesitation, disappearing through the doorway in the blink of an eye.
"You damned traitors!" Malfoy was shocked and furious. He wanted to run too, but he had no strength left in his body. His legs felt as heavy as lead.
A chill suddenly ran up his back to the back of his head. Malfoy's breathing became rapid as he said, his voice tinged with tears, "I'm very sorry for disturbing your sleep..."
"I accept your apology, Mr. Malfoy." Chu Yang yawned and lay back down. "I hope you won't wake me up again. It would be best if you didn't make a single sound. I'm a very light sleeper."
Malfoy looked up at the bookmark embedded deeply in the doorframe, swallowed hard, then quickly covered his throat in terror.
Because he realized that in the quiet, empty room, even the sound of swallowing was especially noticeable.
Even though Chu Yang had said he could come in and sleep, Malfoy did not dare remain in the same room as him. He tiptoed out, not forgetting to close the door for Chu Yang.
Poor Malfoy. His first night after leaving the School Hospital was spent in the Common Room.
Fortunately, no one fought him for the sofa, and the fireplace in the Common Room would not go out.
In the flickering firelight, Malfoy curled up on the sofa and fell into a deep sleep.
The next day, Malfoy woke amid a burst of unbelievable laughter.
He opened his eyes to find students all around him, including older students.
And even...
Professor Snape, the head of Slytherin, was standing right in front of him!
"Wow! I only came to take a look just in case, but it seems the Common Room really did have a guest last night!" Snape said in a deep voice, clearly in a foul mood. "Do first-years love this Common Room so much that they're competing to sleep here?"
"Get up! Malfoy!"
Hearing Snape's roar, Malfoy jolted awake, all traces of sleep vanishing as he scrambled off the sofa.
The laughter around him grew even louder, until Snape's gloomy gaze swept across the room.
Only then did the students lower their heads and quickly leave the Common Room.
Malfoy climbed up from the floor in embarrassment, not forgetting to straighten his hair before respectfully saying, "Good morning, Professor Snape."
"Good morning? I don't think it's good at all!" Snape said furiously. "Last night, your classmates slept in the Common Room all night. Not only did they throw Slytherin's etiquette completely away, they also got the House points deducted on the very first day of school!"
"And now you've done the same thing?" Snape's voice echoed in Malfoy's ears like a storm through a valley. "May I ask what the consequences would be if your father saw you behaving like this at school?"
Malfoy shuddered and immediately pleaded in a low voice, "Professor, please don't let my father find out. He'll kill me..."
Snape saw the fear in Malfoy's eyes and let out a breath. "Now tell me, why were you sleeping here?"
Malfoy hesitated, but under Snape's sharp gaze, he still stammered through what had happened the night before.
"A little piece of paper embedded itself in a doorframe like a knife without the aid of any magic?" Snape sneered disdainfully. "Mr. Malfoy, are you telling a story?"
"Perhaps I should help you submit it to The Daily Prophet or The Quibbler, the great novelist Mr. Draco Malfoy!"
Malfoy cried in grievance and said quietly, "Professor, I'm not lying. Goyle and Crabbe both saw it!"
Now it was Snape's turn to be doubtful.
Could something so absurd really have happened?
