When everyone rushed out of the Violet Citadel, they beheld a jaw-dropping sight. Thousands upon thousands of Black Dragons wheeled across the sky, flames raining down from above as explosions erupted one after another. Alarms blared, magic towers howled as they unleashed spells, and somehow, reckless mages had even opened portals right in the Plaza. Fully armed adventurers poured out in swarms, shouting all sorts of incomprehensible lines.
"Loot drops! Kill the boss! Top-tier materials! Get Dragon Bro!"
The chaotic scene made Antonidas's veins bulge, his white beard nearly standing on end.
"Admiral Daelin, please remain in the citadel with your daughter. This is the safest place. Everyone else, prepare for battle at once. Master Kel'Thuzad, activate the city's protective barrier!
"Prince Kael'thas, lead the battle mages to occupy the magic towers. We absolutely cannot allow these Black Dragons to run rampant.
"Krasus—huh? Where did Krasus go?"
Flame Breath—Scorched Earth!
The towering magic tower was instantly swallowed by flames. Even its magical barrier failed to protect the mages within. The burning shockwave blew the tower apart, sending its mages flying through the air like fireworks.
After unleashing a three-stage charged dragon breath, Murphys gazed contentedly at his handiwork. More than a dozen magic towers along Dalaran's northern outskirts had been destroyed in the first wave of attacks.
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "Well done, brothers! Destroy the enemy's defenses and follow me into the city!"
Boom! The city gate was smashed open by a gigantic siege dragon beast. Hordes of monsters surged inside, flooding into Dalaran's streets to kill and burn. Dalaran had known peace for too long; its garrison failed to react in time.
As citizens screamed and scattered in terror, the Magic Swordsman Legion had yet to finish assembling. Instead, some adventurers who had received the news joined the fight.
But before the monsters' overwhelming numbers, they were quickly slaughtered.
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "That's it! Kill them all! Crush them! Attack, keep attacking!"
Murphys roared, bolstering the monsters' morale while his gaze searched the city. Dalaran had four great treasure vaults, and the one inside the Violet Citadel was the most conspicuous. Without a doubt, it held the finest treasures: the Book of Medivh, the Staff of Sargeras, the Eye of Dalaran... the most powerful artifacts were all hidden there.
But Mo Fei had no intention of attacking that place. The Violet Citadel's defenses had to be the tightest; he might be killed before he even got inside.
His target was the ancient vault in the old northern district. It was Dalaran's earliest-established treasure vault, and in fantasy worlds, the older something was, the more powerful it tended to be.
A violet rainbow-like arcane beam shot toward him, piercing a hapless black drake through the heart and sending it plummeting to the ground.
Mo Fei's heart tightened. Seeing magic towers throughout the inner city activating one after another, he knew his opportunity would vanish in an instant.
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "Follow me, Black Dragon Lords! Victory is right before us."
Telhorason (Black Dragon Lord): "Go, Murphys. We'll support you."
Somerfield (Black Dragon Lord): "I'm right behind you, Murphys. Let us fight side by side!"
Moenthrisa (High Black Dragon Lord): "For the Black Dragon Legion!"
The Black Dragon Lords behind him roared in unison, their momentum shaking the heavens.
In the distance, Antonidas's face turned ashen. He had never expected Dalaran to come under attack from the Black Dragon Legion. Why was this happening? Dalaran had barely provoked the Black Dragons in recent years. At most, they had hunted a few lone Black Dragons as magical test subjects. Was that really worth getting so worked up over?
"Deploy the Magic Griffin Riders! Have all magic towers focus their attacks on those Black Dragon Lords."
Hundreds of Magic Griffin Riders charged out from the towers, while the Black Dragon Legion pounced on them head-on. A brutal aerial battle erupted at once. The Black Dragons held an absolute numerical advantage, and the larger Black Dragons were far stronger than the griffin riders. Yet the riders had the support of the magic towers. They waved their magic wands, firing lightning bolts and magical beams of every color.
Nefarian felt a spark of competitive spirit as well. He suddenly shot into the sky. Dragon Magic—Meteor Shower!
Agnes also displayed her magical power. Dragon Magic—Storm's Descent!
Gales howled as enormous Tornadoes ravaged the city, while fiery rain fell endlessly from the sky.
Black Dragons danced wildly, griffins fell like leaves, and magic towers fired dazzling Light of Destruction. Monsters roared and howled as they fought adventurers in a tangled melee. It was a devastating scene of Dragon Calamity descending upon the world.
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "Hahahaha! That's it, that's it! Let this world burn! Let it be destroyed!"
His gaze swept across the battlefield. Suddenly, he spotted a huge Violet Eye insignia. It was affixed to a rather peculiar tall structure—square, windowless, and more like a fortress than a building.
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "That's right, the ancient vault in the old district. Follow me, brothers!"
He folded his wings and dove sharply, plummeting toward his target. A gryphon rider bravely charged toward him, and the Dwarf atop the griffin roared as he fired a Lightning Spear. The Black Dragon endured the attack and seized the griffin's wings with both claws. With a light pull, the beast, stripped of its wings, fell from the sky.
Another squad of gryphon riders rushed over. Mo Fei opened his jaws and unleashed a surging torrent of dragonflame. Firelight illuminated the sky as the griffins either fled in panic or were ignited and burned into charred husks.
Three hundred meters, two hundred meters, one hundred meters. He was getting closer and closer to the ground.
Suddenly, a Greatfire Tower launched an enormous flaming meteor at the Black Dragon.
Mo Fei performed a nimble Evasion, dodging the meteor as he rammed headlong into the Greatfire Tower. Boom! The massive tower shattered in midair and collapsed with a thunderous crash.
Riding the falling debris, Mo Fei swept through the streets at low altitude. Some mages on the ground fired fireballs and lightning at him, and the Black Dragon opened his jaws again.
Flame Dragon Breath—Bone-Eroding Dragonflame!
Flames spread down the street, and those unable to escape instantly became screaming human torches.
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "My Black Dragon Lords, the target is right ahead!" he shouted, but received no response. When he turned around, he found that the Black Dragon Lords who had been following him had all vanished. Looking up, he spotted them several hundred meters overhead, unsurprisingly taking lazy turns breathing fire.
Those bastards! Mo Fei cursed inwardly, but it did not matter. He had anticipated this possibility long ago.
He charged straight for the vault. To evade the magic towers' attacks, he simply descended to the ground and barreled through the city streets, crushing everything in his path into ruins. As soon as he turned a corner, a group of adventurers appeared ahead.
Mo Fei could not be bothered to deal with them. "Get out of my way, you little insects!"
"Holy shit, it's Dragon Bro! Run for it!" the leading knight shouted, and the adventurers scattered in all directions, watching from afar.
A few foolish ones still fired arrows and cast spells from a distance. Mo Fei breathed dragonfire at them, burning every last one into cinders.
Just as he was about to reach the Plaza where the vault stood, a squad of soldiers suddenly appeared in front of him. The emblems on their battle robes were not those of the Violet Eye, but noble crests bearing the image of a massive stone.
The lord leading them had a majestic beard, and his face looked familiar—Ned Stark? Mo Fei immediately grinned. Wasn't this the admin's account?
Ned Stark (Count of Rock City): "Mo Fei, I know you want to delete your account. Don't do anything rash. We can talk this over. Leave Dalaran now, immediately, or you'll definitely regret it."
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "Hahahaha, vile scum, poisonous maggot, are you ordering me around? Look at everything around you. Your arrogance brought this disaster upon us, and now there is no turning back. Yet you still think you can order me about? Foolish mortal, you have no awareness of your own predicament. Tremble before Murphys's dragonfire!"
Seeing that the Black Dragon was about to attack him, the admin panicked.
Ned Stark (Count of Rock City): "Have you gone mad?! I spent hundreds of thousands leveling this account! If you dare kill me... damn it, soldiers, protect me!"
The soldiers behind him immediately formed a battle formation, spearmen in front and crossbowmen in the rear.
Mo Fei did not care in the slightest. Lord-type players were extremely powerful in the later stages. Their health and base attributes did not pale beside those of hero-type players at the same level. Although they did not have as many or as powerful skills, they could lead troops. If they had the money to raise elite units, even dragons and demons could be taken down.
But that required high-tier troops. Even if he did not have tier-five ultimate units, he should at least have brought some Storm Knights, Lionguard, Silvermist Ranger Archers, or something.
Instead, this guy had brought a bunch of tier-two Mercenary Crossbowmen and Conscript Spearmen to cause trouble for him. He was practically volunteering to die. Not killing him would be an insult to such a pathetic lineup.
The Black Dragon breathed out dragonfire, instantly engulfing the soldiers in the front row. The crossbowmen fired a volley of bolts, but when they struck the Black Dragon's scales, they could not even deal single-digit damage.
Spears struck his body and snapped one after another. Mo Fei charged straight through them, using Dragon Assault to destroy their formation.
In an instant, he had rushed before the admin. The admin panicked as well, raising his two-handed greatsword and hacking down with all his strength.
Heroic Strike!
Crack! -375!
That damage was pretty high.
Mo Fei sneered and grabbed the admin in his claws. As he watched the struggling admin in his hand, a cruel thrill rose within him.
Ned Stark (Count of Rock City): "Don't eat me! Don't eat me!"
Murphys (Ancient Black Dragon): "Eat you? How could I possibly stomach trash like you? But you did remind me of something..."
The Black Dragon bit the admin into his jaws, his enormous teeth clamping together. The admin let out a pig-slaughtering scream. Even with only thirty percent sensory feedback, the sensation of being torn apart alive was still agonizing beyond measure. Fortunately, the pain did not last long. Mo Fei chewed Ned Stark into a pile of mosaic in just a few bites, then spat it onto the ground.
So breaking the system's rules was this simple! A flash of realization crossed Mo Fei's mind. After defeating the Dawn Divine Sword, he had tried several times to replicate that act of breaking the system's rules, but every attempt had failed. Yet he had inadvertently pulled it off just now. He vaguely grasped a pattern. Perhaps this could become his signature technique in the future.
But for now, finding the treasures came first.
