Qin Ran opened the door. A tall, clean, well-dressed man stood outside, holding a long, narrow box in both hands. He was one of Webster's servants.
Or rather, a bodyguard.
His unusually thick joints and solid build gave him a formidable air just standing there.
Yet now, he faced Qin Ran with an almost fawning smile, instantly softening that formidable air.
"Sir D, our boss sent this for you."
"He hopes you'll accept this gesture of goodwill."
The servant held the box out to Qin Ran.
"Mm."
Qin Ran nodded and took the box.
"Thank you for everything you've done."
"If you need anything, please visit Webster's villa. We'll do everything in our power to fulfill your requests."
Seeing Qin Ran accept the box, the servant's smile grew even more ingratiating. He spoke as he backed away.
After watching the servant disappear down the stairwell, Qin Ran returned to his room and closed the door behind him. He lowered his head to examine the long, narrow box in his hands.
The box was wooden, with a brass clasp. When he opened it, a short sword resting on crimson velvet came into view.
The sword was sharp.
Against the crimson velvet, it looked all the more like a divine weapon that could kill without a drop of blood clinging to its blade.
Of course, it was, in fact, a magic-tier short sword.
[Name: Sharp Short Sword] [Type: Sword weapon] [Quality: Magic] [Attack: Average] [Attributes: Armor Piercing Lv2, Dexterity Lv1] [Special effects: None] [Requirements: None] [Notes: An excellent piece of standard-issue equipment] ... [Armor Piercing Lv2: Can easily tear through medium armor (defense rated as strong)] [Dexterity Lv1: It will not hinder your movements] ...
Qin Ran picked it up and flicked his wrist, tracing a flourish with the blade.
