The cry of alarm drew everyone's attention.

Had it come from an ordinary person, it might not have meant much. But the one who cried out was Ling, leader of the Guardians!

Ling, the rumored successor to the Witch, whose strength stood at the pinnacle of Giant City.

"Nothing is impossible."

"The strength you pride yourself on, compared to certain powers..."

"Really isn't worth mentioning."

The Broker spoke with a smile.

His laughter brimmed with contempt.

Then the Broker pointed around him and said, enunciating every word, "An absolutely safe room? What a joke. It's nothing but a cage!"

"And outside this little cage, there's an even bigger one."

"All they do is shackle our freedom, layer by layer. All they do is turn us into..."

"Slaves!"

As his words rang out with conviction, the Broker looked at the Guardians' two overseers, eight inspectors, and numerous other members. Mocking amusement surfaced once more in his exposed eyes.

"Do you know the truth about the Guardians?"

"Do you want to know?"

"Shut up!"

Having recovered his composure, Ling interrupted the Broker.

The leader of the Guardians sneered, undisguised killing intent in his eyes.

"Showing off your petty cleverness again."

"Do you think anyone will listen to you?"

"You betrayed our lady!"

As he spoke, Ling raised his hand.

Then he brought it down hard.

Instantly, the eight inspectors charged straight at the Broker.

"Repent after you're dead!"

That was what Ling said.

Ling had considerable confidence in his eight inspectors.

The Broker might have brought hundreds of people, but most were merely veteran players. Fewer than a tenth were at entry rank, while the eight inspectors were outstanding even among entry-rank players, capable of killing ordinary ones almost instantly.

Clang!

Li, the Sword Inspector, drew his sword first, unleashing sword energy
