Bullets That Could Curve!

Boom!!!

The violent explosion unleashed towering flames, fire spreading outward like waves. Shattered glass and chunks of concrete sprayed everywhere like rain, blasting a massive breach in the municipal building and exposing the twisted steel rebar within the floors.

Xiao Miao was hurled away by the shockwave, smashing through countless tables and chairs before finally slamming heavily into a load-bearing pillar.

Before the aftermath of the explosion had even settled, more than a dozen rockets flew into the building. The chain of explosions completely engulfed the nearby floors, shattering the glass curtain walls and sending fragments raining down.

Xiao Miao wiped the soot from his face, sprang to his feet with a flop, and ducked behind the load-bearing pillar to avoid the blasts as he mentally connected with his stored cards.

"Use [Item Card: ZF-1]!"

With a flash of light, a huge oval egg-shaped object appeared in Xiao Miao's hands, its weight slightly heavy.

It was too heavy and inconvenient for an ordinary human soldier to carry, but for Xiao Miao, who had loaded the Nemesis Character Card, it was just right.

As soon as he grasped it, the ZF-1 automatically unfolded. The weapon module at the front radiated killing intent, while the gap at the rear perfectly accommodated an arm.

Xiao Miao tore open the elevator shaft with his bare hands, grabbed the steel cable one-handed, and leaped down. After landing, he pried open the steel doors and entered the basement carrying the gun.

Halfway there, Xiao Miao suddenly felt that something was missing. He looked down at his battered, hole-ridden S.T.A.R.S. combat uniform and immediately understood.

A complete set of leather clothes and boots appeared before Xiao Miao. He picked them up and tried them on; they fit perfectly.

"Perfect!"

In the plaza beside the helicopter, Major Cain wore a smile as he spread his arms and looked at Alice and the others.

"Everyone, do you see? This is what happens when you oppose me."

Behind him, the municipal building had been blasted open by rockets. The floors of the five nearby levels had cracked and collapsed, while debris slid from the breach amid burning flames, leaving nothing but ruins.

Carlos glared coldly at Major Cain. "Your people were still in there. You blew them up!"

He had once been a member of the special task force, and even its captain. He utterly despised Major Cain's practice of using his own men as bait.

If looks could kill, Major Cain would have died countless times already.

Major Cain walked up to Carlos and slapped him to the ground. "Idiot. Dying for me, dying for the Umbrella Corporation, is their honor."

Alice said nothing. She stared blankly at the breach in the municipal building. She believed Xiao Miao would not die so easily, but she could not stop herself from worrying.

On the rooftop, Jill's heart pounded wildly. Her worry for Xiao Miao had reached its peak, yet a flicker of anticipation still rose within her.

Having seen Xiao Miao create miracles before, she believed he would escape danger again. As his teammate, Jill felt she had to do something.

She looked at the sniper rifle in her hands. Its scope had been damaged, but it could still fire. Even if she could not hit accurately, she could at least harass the enemy and buy time.

Jill decisively removed the scope, raised the rifle, aimed the iron sights at a task force member, and pulled the trigger. The bullet whistled through the air, and one task force member fell in response.

Jill and Major Cain's group froze at the same time. Then everyone in the plaza immediately sought cover and returned fire.

Bullets struck the edge of the roof, spraying cement dust. Jill shifted positions, her face full of question marks.

That shot had actually hit?

Was she really that good? Under such visibility conditions, she could hit such a distant enemy with iron sights?

But the person she had aimed at seemed to have been someone else...

Jill did not think too much about it, assuming she had merely gotten lucky. She raised her rifle and fired again. After the gunshot, another task force member clutched his chest and collapsed, dragged into a corner by his companions.

She fired four more shots in rapid succession. Four people fell and failed to rise. Jill still had not noticed anything strange, but Major Cain had found the problem.

"Fuck, someone's taking potshots nearby! Stay alert!"

Everyone immediately looked around, sweeping their gazes across every corner of the surrounding buildings. When Jill fired again, Xiao Miao poked his head out from the shadows, raised his gun, and shot someone at the same time.

"He's over there!"

One task force member spotted Xiao Miao and immediately opened fire. A stream of bullets struck Xiao Miao's shadow.

"Go! Kill him!" Major Cain shouted furiously, immediately issuing the order. He quickly walked over to the Traveler of All Heavens beside him. "Yashi, you need to protect me!"

Shi Ya's face darkened. "Mr. Cain, my name is Shi Ya. Reversing the pronunciation can easily cause misunderstandings."

Major Cain looked confused. "Why?"

Because of a dialect homophone!

Shi Ya grumbled internally but did not explain in detail. Feeling somewhat uneasy, he suggested, "Mr. Cain, we should board the helicopter and withdraw first. This city is about to be destroyed anyway. There is no need to pay attention to the other side's last desperate struggle."

Major Cain hesitated upon hearing that, mainly because he could not let go of his pride.

At the command, the remaining thirty-odd task force members formed a defensive formation and maintained suppressing fire in the direction where Xiao Miao had appeared. Alice and the others were brought into the cabin, and the helicopter's engines began warming up.

Xiao Miao fired from the side, but the bullets were blocked by the specially made bulletproof shields in their hands. He immediately switched modes. The arrow pod opened and fired three armor-piercing bolts.

The bolts barely pierced the shields, their shafts remaining embedded within them. The shield-bearing soldier froze, then mocked over the communications channel, "What era is this? Who still uses such retro—"

Before he could finish speaking, the three armor-piercing bolts exploded. The shields shattered, and the nearby task force members suffered heavy casualties.

Xiao Miao rushed out from cover, firing as he ran. His immense strength allowed him to perfectly control the weapon in his hands. Everywhere he passed, the special forces soldiers fell in rows like harvested wheat.

The special forces soldiers returned fire one after another. Bullets struck Xiao Miao's body, bursting into sprays of blood, yet he did not fall.

"This monster can't be killed!"

"Fire! Use the rocket launchers!"

The remaining defenders panicked. Several gathered behind cover, and two hurriedly pulled out rocket launchers. Just as they raised them, a dense net descended from the sky and covered them.

They hurriedly tried to untangle the rope net when they heard a whistling sound growing closer. Looking up, they saw an abandoned sedan flying toward them.

The sedan hit the ground and crushed several of them into pulp.

By then, Major Cain and the others had already run into the helicopter cabin. Xiao Miao pressed a button on the ZF-1. Mechanical sounds rang out, and a red-dot sight popped up from the top of the gun.

He raised the gun, aimed, and fired in one smooth motion. A special bullet flew from the barrel straight toward Major Cain's head.

The instant Xiao Miao raised his gun, Shi Ya suddenly darted in front of Major Cain. He extended one hand flat, and a translucent shield instantly formed before him.

Crack!

The bullet struck the shield and became lodged in its center, unable to advance another inch.

Shi Ya revealed a smug smile. "How could I let you kill my mission target?"

The two shield-bearing guards in the cabin belatedly reacted and raised their shields in front of Shi Ya.

"Is that so?" Xiao Miao pointed his gun skyward. "If you can block them all, I'll admit you're impressive!"

He pulled the trigger. The gun roared, and dozens of bullets howled out.

Something miraculous happened. The bullets fired upward did not continue flying up. Half a meter after leaving the muzzle, they automatically curved, each tracing a different path as they sped straight toward Shi Ya.
