An Experiment Coveted by Others

Empire State University, located in Upper Manhattan, was a prestigious Ivy League private school.

Upon entering the campus, one could see its motto: [Strive for Perfection].

Gwen Stacy had good grades and had been admitted to the biology department here.

Li Wei had 2B wait in the car, then entered the university with Gwen.

2B kept watching Li Wei's direction, afraid that he might be in danger, until he disappeared from sight.

America's campus atmosphere was vibrant. Girls in short skirts and black stockings were everywhere, freely showing off their fair skin.

Of course, whenever Li Wei spotted someone with a darker complexion, he simply looked away.

"College life really is the best."

Li Wei sighed.

Gwen Stacy held her bag, walking with her head lowered as she stared at her toes. Hearing that, she looked utterly confused. "Huh?"

Li Wei glanced at the girl, who had no idea what she was thinking about, and replied, "Nothing."

She definitely did not understand what he meant.

"Ring ring!"

Soon, the bell rang.

Gwen let out an "Ah!" and sped forward.

"Boss, I'm going to class first."

She did not forget to turn back and say goodbye, nearly falling to the ground.

But her reflexes were incredibly quick. She immediately braced herself with one hand, almost like she was crawling forward.

She still was not used to wearing high heels.

"Be careful!"

Li Wei called out, then headed toward the laboratory.

Before long, he arrived at a biology lab.

Li Wei knocked on the door.

"Who is it?"

A dull voice came from inside.

"Professor Connors, it's me."

As soon as Li Wei spoke, the door opened, and he was enthusiastically pulled inside.

Curtis Connors had once been a military doctor, but he had lost his right arm during the war. After leaving the military, he devoted himself to researching limb regeneration technology.

Previously, Li Wei had approached him and promised to help with his experiments. He had then brought him to New York and helped him join Empire State University as a professor.

This was mainly to milk America for funding.

"Li, you're here."

Professor Connors warmly grabbed Li Wei with his remaining arm.

"I heard you were looking for me."

Li Wei spoke.

"It's like this. My experiment has reached a critical stage, but I don't think this place is safe."

Professor Connors said.

"Oh?"

Li Wei was puzzled.

"When I came in this morning, I found signs that my laboratory had been searched."

Professor Connors's face was livid as he said, "A lot of people are watching our experiment. I'm worried someone might sabotage it in secret."

He led Li Wei to the area that had been disturbed. It was clear that whoever had entered the laboratory was well-trained and had obviously been searching for information.

Li Wei was partly to blame for this. To gain attention, he had turned many of the experiments into news stories.

Professor Connors was researching a DNA serum containing genes from reptiles such as lizards. Naturally, it had attracted huge attention. Even ordinary people followed it closely, putting Professor Connors under immense psychological pressure.

If the experiment failed, he would be mocked by all of America.

Of course, if it succeeded, he would immediately become America's star scientist.

Allowing severed limbs to regenerate—how incredible was that?

Naturally, this had attracted the covetous attention of others, whether rivals or people with ulterior motives.

In many ways, the emergence of this serum would overturn countless established beliefs.

"Really? Then let's move the experiment to the company."

Li Wei cared greatly about this as well, so he said, "By the way, Professor Connors, a lot of people are watching this experiment now. We have to make absolutely sure nothing goes wrong."

Professor Connors knew that Li Wei had recently been hyping that topic nonstop. Tony Stark had even been publicly competing with him from afar.

"That could indeed be useful."

Li Wei then made a call and had his company's security personnel come over to move everything.

Li Wei was extremely cautious. After all, quite a few people envied Future Technology, and this was America.

No matter how rich one was, failing to pay attention to personal safety could lead to trouble.

Tony Stark's parents had been rich too, yet they had still been assassinated.

Professor Connors immediately went to contact the university.

After all, the university had a share in the results. They only wanted the prestige, so they did not care.

Half an hour later, Future Technology Company's security team arrived.

Although they all had various prosthetic limbs, and some even had metal plates attached to their faces, no one dared underestimate them.

"Be careful."

Professor Connors watched as they loaded the equipment and data into the vehicles.

Then they prepared to depart.

They were all veterans, so they were well prepared. Their escort formation was orderly as well.

Li Wei quickly invited Professor Connors into his car.

"Professor Connors, why not ride with me?"

"No. I'm staying with my research results."

Professor Connors flatly refused.

In his eyes, probably nothing was more important than his research.

Li Wei did not mind. He simply took out his radio and reminded them, "Keep your eyes open!"

Professor Connors's laboratory had clearly been targeted, so they needed to be more careful now.

"Yes, Boss!"

The security personnel immediately replied.

Future Technology Company had practically given these veterans a second life. It had also given them security jobs so they could support their families, so naturally they were willing to risk their lives.

Soon, the convoy set off.

"Safe!"

"Vehicle Two has been following the whole time. No suspicious individuals spotted."

"Stay alert."

Li Wei replied.

2B continued driving the Maybach steadily, though this time she followed at the rear.

The vehicles continued onward. Since there was heavy traffic all along the way, nothing happened.

That let Li Wei breathe a sigh of relief. This was New York—trouble would not come so easily.

Just then, 2B warned, "Master, the movements of one vehicle are suspicious!"

Li Wei immediately looked around. "Which one?"

"In the lane beside the intersection. It is heading this way."

2B replied quickly. Although she was not using her eyes, it was as though her eyes were everywhere.

"Stop!"

Hearing 2B's words, Li Wei chose to trust her and immediately shouted.

The two transport vehicles ahead immediately slammed on their brakes as well.

"Screech!"

After the two vehicles stopped, a tanker truck really did burst out from the right at the intersection ahead, an even more terrifying threat than a fully insured semi-trailer.

Then it overturned directly to the side.

Boom!

With the deafening crash, pedestrians instinctively fled, afraid that it would explode.

Behind the convoy, several transport vehicles immediately drove up and directly surrounded Future Technology's two transport trucks!
