Merlin let out a long breath, and a thought flashed through his mind. I wonder who's stronger—me as I am now, or Nilar, the seven-element mage from back then?
Nilar had left a deep impression on Merlin. In the entire history of spellcasters, there had only ever been one seven-element spellcaster, and he had possessed a full thirty Perfect-Level Spells, just six fewer than Merlin.
On top of that, Nilar had been a seven-element mage. Merlin truly did not know which of them was stronger. He had asked around about Nilar, but it seemed no one had ever heard of him. He had vanished into thin air, with only the Spell Ranking in the City of Arcane still bearing witness to his former glory.
