The four mother insects seemed to sense the danger. Waves of distorted light rippled across their massive bodies, and wherever the light passed, it shredded even the laws.
"Be careful! That's the mother insects' shockwave. It's incredibly strange and can rival the laws condensed by Great Legendaries."
Mage Frans shouted the warning. He had dealt with the Insect Clan more than once, so he knew the mother insects' abilities well.
Hiss.
The mother insects' shockwaves collided with the four Legendary Mages' laws. The two sides were evenly matched. The mother insects let out piercing cries, trying to rouse the insect armies they had spawned.
But Merlin's Illusion had ensnared those armies, and the mother insects could not wake them. Deprived of their greatest support, they grew agitated.
Frans and the other three Legendary Mages seized the opportunity and gained the upper hand.
Merlin watched the battlefield closely. Things were going well; he no longer needed to intervene. The four Legendary Mages could keep the mother insects pinned down.
"Haha! Die!"
Mage Ducas was the strongest, with two laws, and he was the first to strike. He drove both laws forward and slammed them into a mother insect.
Cracks spread across its body like a spiderweb, a horrifying sight. Threads of sickly green blood seeped from within.
Bang.
Ducas kept hammering it with his two laws until he finally killed it. Mother insects did not possess the immortality of gods or Legendary Mages. They had neither Divinity nor laws; their bodies were everything.
Once a mother insect's body was shattered, it was dead for good.
As soon as one mother insect died, Merlin witnessed something shocking. A large portion of the insects caught in his Illusion wailed and then died. They bore no wounds, but every trace of life had vanished.
