An Encounter [Third Update]

Merlin's Law Chains shattered all three arrows formed from flames, scattering them into countless fiery fragments that vanished in midair.

The three figures in the sky were clearly startled and immediately urged their three fierce birds down.

After descending, the three spoke to Merlin and Santo, but neither understood their language. The torrent of unfamiliar words left them both bewildered.

Merlin studied the three carefully. They were about the same height as Spellcasters, but their skin had a faint fiery-red hue. Each also bore a distinctive flame mark between their brows.

The three fierce birds appeared to have been tamed by these people. They had apparently been sent to "keep watch" over the fierce beast, but now that Wizard Santo had killed it, trouble might follow.

Merlin did not understand their language, but that did not prevent him from communicating with them.

"Who are you?"

Merlin sent his Mind Power directly into the other man's consciousness, imprinting his voice in the man's mind without using spoken language. The man looked at Merlin in surprise upon hearing his "words," but before he could formulate a reply in his mind, Merlin already knew it.

"Matrix, collect their vocabulary!"

At the same time, Merlin had the Matrix begin collecting these people's language. Soon, it would be able to compare it against the Morta script. With Merlin and Santo's abilities, learning the language would naturally be effortless.

Merlin pondered for a moment, then discussed the matter with Wizard Santo.

"Wizard Santo, these people may belong to this strange world's native civilization. Judging by the fierce birds they ride and the methods they just used, their civilization probably isn't weak. Why don't we learn about this world from them?"
