After gaining the knowledge to save his parents, Tony would never easily entrust such an important thing to others, not to mention that he already knew how to do it. Therefore, he decided to take matters into his own hands, but he would listen to Ian (Edward)'s advice on how to implement it.
Tony's training ended quickly because Ian took a more hands-off approach to him. When it was all over, he called in the three members of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Fury, Coulson and Maria·Hill. As soon as they arrived, they took in the pure white room.
"I want to file a complaint," Coulson said.
"What's the matter?" Ian asked.
"Why do others train one-on-one, but the three of us get together?"
"This complaint is reasonable," Ian nodded. "The test will begin immediately. You just need to stand in front of the sphere."
"Aren't you going to respond?"
"You want me to be a jerk and tell you the cold hard truth?"
"Forget it," Coulson said a little hurt. However, Fury and Maria kept calm. They knew that they were not heroes; they had heroic qualities, but they understood that, in essence, they were government employees. So, they continued to conduct the test. Ian looked at the results, and a strange look flashed in his eyes.
'Well, at least there are some normal results,' Morgana commented.
'Indeed.' Except for Fury, the test results of the other two people were very ordinary, but that was only by the standards of Avengers. By any other standards, even by the standards of the Empire, they were excellent. Ian was thinking about how to train them.
"Is something wrong?" Fury asked.
"No," Ian comforted. "Maybe." He changed his mind. Everyone looked at him in confusion.
"Do you know what your greatest talent is?" He asked Fury, who shook his head.
"Aside from your ability as a top spy, your greatest asset is luck."
"Luck? You mean, I'm lucky?" Fury was confused. He never thought of himself as a Luck person, and he couldn't imagine how this could be regarded as a kind of power.
"Luck is an illusory thing, but it is also a powerful force," Ian explains. "However, in your case, it manifests as survival. In other words, you are not lucky in the typical sense, but when you are in danger, you can always find a way out. Even the universe will take the initiative to help you escape."
Fury frowned. In his long career, he faced countless dangers, some of which he survived purely by luck. But he never thought that this would be a talent.
"Doesn't that mean no one can kill the director?" Maria asked. However, Ian shook his head. "Everything is relative. For example, if I want to kill him, even if the universe itself materializes and intervenes, it will not stop me from erasing him."
All three people understood what he meant. Fury's luck may be extraordinary, but when faced with beings that can affect things on a cosmic scale, his luck will be useless.
"However, if you are stronger and have access to certain abilities, the situation will be different," Ian said, narrowing his eyes.
"Do you have any plans?" Fury asked.
"I have a mission for you, but this is voluntary."
Fury immediately frowned. Although he had not known Ian for a long time, he could tell that Ian was a person who was willing to impose his views and ideas on others. However, such a person was actually asking for his consent.
"Is it dangerous?" Coulson asked.
"Extremely dangerous," Ian told the truth.
"How dangerous is it exactly?" Fury asked.
"If something goes wrong, even people like me will be killed instantly."
Coulson almost gasped, and Maria and Fury could no longer remain calm. "What kind of mission can be so dangerous?"
"I want you to infiltrate a timeline where 'Multiverse-class entities' exist and collect intelligence about them."
Fury had to use all his strength to hold back from swearing. After going through the training of Clint and Natasha, everyone knew the levels of power. They knew that Ian was the Tier 10, which meant that he could affect the entire universe effortlessly. They also learned about higher levels.
"Do you want to kill me?" Fury asked, trying to control his emotions.
"Listen to me first," Ian said. "I won't let you go blindly. First, your soul must be reincarnated on that timeline."
"Reincarnation? You mean, become another person? Maybe even become a baby?" Coulson interrupted him and asked. However, Ian calmly explained.
"You will eventually awaken your memories, and your current personality will become dominant," Ian explains. He will not let Fury go the way of his clones, which was born with memories and forced to grow up instantly. If Fury had a traceable identity in that universe, it would be easier for him to blend in and hide himself.
"Secondly, I will carve a spell into your soul: Eye of Fortune," Ian continued. "It allows you to see your own and other people's luck. With it, you can predict dangers and make better use of your survival talents."
"Eye of Fortune" is one of the results that Empire achieved after years of researching Felix Felicis and the overall concept of luck. Unfortunately, luck seems to be an offshoot of Destiny Magic, which means that Ian's talent in this area is mediocre, so he rarely uses it.
"Third, I will give you a [Synthesizer]," Ian added.
"Synthesizer?"
"It is a piece of Divine Artifact that can make anything you need to succeed in your mission," Ian explained. "I will set it to create a set of Tier 10 armor for you immediately after you are born to protect you."
"It can make anything?" Fury confirmed again.
"Yeah, anything." OK, Ian was bragging, but Synthesizer's limits were very small. He doubted Fury would ask it to make anything that would hit those limits.
"Can it create a universe?" Coulson asked jokingly.
"That's very simple," Ian nodded, almost making Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. choke. Then, he remembered what kind of existence he was dealing with. Fury fell into deep thought.
"Director, you're not really thinking about this, are you?" Maria asked.
"I'm thinking about it."
"But..."
"We are living in unprecedented times, and everyone must do their part," Ian said. "With me here, our timeline does not need to worry too much about the threat of Tier 10. However, beings of Tier 11 or higher are another matter. Although I have plans to prepare to deal with these entities, my confidence in this matter is too low. If Fury can gather some basic information about these entities, it will help me prepare to deal with them."
"Do you have a way to deal with the Tier 11 entity?" Fury asked.
"Yes, but it's still in progress." Ian did not elaborate further. These people are weak, which means their minds can be easily seen through. In addition, Fury may be reincarnated soon, so he must guard against someone catching him and searching his soul.
"Okay, I did it," Fury said. The others opened their mouths, but said nothing.
"You are a real man; I admire your courage," Ian praised.
"Thank you." Fury didn't know if he was sincere, or if he was just showing the usual attitude of those in power towards those who are willing to sacrifice for their cause. Regardless, he also knew how to maintain relationships.
"In order for this plan to succeed, we must take some precautions," Ian continued. "First of all, you will not be born on Earth. Earth is usually the center of many major events in the universe, which means that countless powerful entities are watching it. We need to minimize the possibility of you being discovered.
"In addition, I cannot provide too much energy to [Synthesizer], otherwise there is a risk of exposing your reincarnated identity. Divine Artifact will be set to draw energy from the universe and surrounding dimensions. However, you'd better take the initiative to find a better energy source, such as Infinity Stones.
"However, these Divine Artifact are also hot potatoes, so it's best to make a decision after figuring out what that timeline looks like."
Fury nodded.
"Secondly, you must understand that if a Tier 11 entity captures you, Synthesizer will immediately erase your soul," Ian said calmly.
"What? You can't do this," Coulson said.
"No, he has to do this," Fury said. "We can't take any risks and let people find our timeline by tracing my source."
"That's right," Ian nodded. He could have sent only a small part of Fury's soul to be reincarnated. However, there is a hidden danger in this method: even if a small part is destroyed, it is possible to calculate the cause and effect of that soul.
Not to mention Tier 11, even a Tier 10 entity who is proficient in Divination and even curses can find the source of Fury's soul and trace it to this timeline.
Therefore, Fury's entire soul must be reincarnated. The process of reincarnation and assimilation into a new timeline will further isolate his causal relationship with this earth, and once the soul dies, the causal relationship will be permanently severed.
"Don't worry about your death, because you can rely on 'Phoenix Project' Resurrection."
"What is that?"
"I will copy your memories and store them. If your soul dies, I will transfer them to the clone. Strictly speaking, you are not the same person because your soul is different, but you are still you."
