He could not believe whether the scene unfolding before his eyes was real...
A pitch-black, future-warrior-like image of Chen Xi appeared so abruptly before him, yet none of that was the crucial part.
He witnessed with his own eyes how that liquid-like material rapidly rippled and covered Chen Xi's entire body. Such a bizarre method was something he had never heard of nor seen before.
Noble, mysterious, powerful!
Clearly standing right in front of him, that intangible pressure washed over him like a tide, and he even sensed a trace of an evil, eerie aura.
"What kind of material is this? Could there really be a company whose nanotechnology is powerful to this extent?"
Tony's mindset refused to accept it, as he had always firmly believed that his Stark Industries represented the pinnacle of Earth's technology.
"Pardon me, but that is a trade secret."
Chen Xi said with a smiling expression.
For Tony, who possessed a strong desire for knowledge and obsessive-compulsive disorder, this was practically akin to killing him...
"Spitting out only half your words, aren't you afraid your tongue will rot?"
Tony growled, suppressing the urge to strangle him to death.
So this guy's personality was just as wretched as his own!!
"Hahaha, if you hand all your Iron Man armors over to me, I might actually consider telling you a few secrets."
Chen Xi laughed heartily as he patted his shoulder. This impervious-to-everything attitude made Tony's teeth itch with hatred...
"Hmph! Wanting my Iron Man armor? Fat chance. It's just nanotechnology, you really think I can't build it?"
Tony swore to properly deflate his arrogant attitude.
So damn infuriating, fuck!!
"Tsk tsk tsk, then I shall wait and see. Though I'm just curious whether you can even live long enough to see that day."
Chen Xi pointed at the hole-like wound on Tony's chest. Without the palladium element eroding him, this fellow would probably degenerate right then and there, wouldn't he?
Why else would they say that the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold? Everything has its own predestined cycle of cause and effect.
"Sigh, I really can't hide anything from you. To think you even know about my palladium poisoning, I also have a major announcement to make today."
Tony sighed, his expression turning desolate as well.
Even mere ants cling tenaciously to life, let alone human beings...
"Nonsense! Could I possibly not understand that palladium is toxic? I'm a sci-fi movie screenwriter, after all."
"Still, go in peace. To use a saying from our hometown: After you die, I shall tend to your wife, and you need not worry."
Chen Xi blinked at Tony with a wretched look, patting his shoulder with a deadpan expression while laughing wickedly.
Though Tony was not well-versed in the language, he more or less grasped the general meaning, and immediately raised his fist to pummel this Cao Cao...
"Chen Xi, fuck you!! How dare you harbor designs on my Pepper? Fuck you!!"
"How does that saying go again—thou shalt not covet thy friend's wife, and you don't even know that? You cultural degenerate!!"
Tony was furious!!
Are you even human anymore, fucking hell!
"Hahaha, just rest assured and go. When that time comes, I'll drive your luxury car, take Pepper out for a spin, live in your mansion, and boss JARVIS around."
"Turns out the meaning of your lifelong struggle was to let me live the life that was supposed to belong to you. Thanks a lot."
Chen Xi laughed heartily as he ran, infuriating Tony so much that he genuinely wanted to chase him down and pummel him. Yet this guy moved as fast as an eel, darting back and forth so that he couldn't be caught at all.
Just at that moment, Pepper walked in. Seeing the living room looking as if it had been ransacked by thieves, and then seeing Tony with his face flushed red with anger, she understood instantly...
"Chen Xi, did you wind Tony up again?"
Pepper rolled her eyes and said coquettishly.
"Pepper, you're truly wronging me. How could I possibly upset an old man? What would happen if he got so mad he dropped dead?"
Chen Xi used another passive-aggressive remark to piss Tony off...
Just as Tony was about to snap back, Pepper spoke up.
"Alright, alright, Tony. The time has come. Don't you have something important to announce? Get a move on."
Pepper simply could not understand why Tony always ended up on the losing end whenever he crossed swords with Chen Xi. Was it because he was getting older and losing his edge?
"Hmph! I won't lower myself to a child's level; adults are magnanimous."
With considerable snobbery, Tony straightened his clothing, cast a sideways glance at Chen Xi, and strode out of the living room proud as a prize rooster...
Chen Xi couldn't comprehend why this guy was so narcissistic.
"Don't worry, Tony. If you want Vibranium, as long as you gift me your Iron Man armors, I can give it to you for free."
Chen Xi called out to his retreating back, but Tony waved a hand dismissively without even turning his head. Would a man like Tony ever submit?
"Don't mind him; Tony can be as childish as a kid sometimes, you understand~"
Pepper offered an apologetic smile to explain on Tony's behalf, taking responsibility for smoothing things over for the paranoid, arrogant, and egotistical Tony every single time.
"It must be pretty tiring sticking with a guy like that. Ever consider jumping ship and rolling with me?" Chen Xi joked.
"Well, I'm very expensive, you probably can't afford me."
Pepper responded with a smile as well. She felt that although Chen Xi was younger, stronger, and more handsome than Tony, true love works in mysterious ways...
"Haha, a gentleman does not love what belongs to another."
Chen Xi said with a hearty laugh.
"Indeed, you really are more charming than Tony."
Pepper said sincerely.
"No no no, wrong, all wrong. Not just you, but everyone is wrong—my moral character is so low it can't even compare to Tony's personal charm." Chen Xi waved his hand in correction.
"Aren't you joking? Who doesn't know how wretched and arrogant Tony's personality is?"
Pepper wondered if she had misheard. Someone was actually praising Tony's personal charm? Did that guy even possess such a thing?
"Haha, time will prove everything."
Chen Xi smiled mysteriously, leaving Pepper—whose ears and brain doubted reality—dumbfounded on the spot...
In the center of the party stage.
Tony held a microphone and spoke with passion, while Chen Xi stood in a corner holding a wine glass and listening. One had to admit that when this fellow started blowing his own horn, he really had a whole routine down.
"Finally, I announce one thing: starting from now, I, Tony Stark, will no longer be the CEO of Stark Industries. I am resigning from all positions, and Pepper will assume the role of CEO of Stark Industries to take full charge of all matters on my behalf."
The moment those words fell, the entire party exploded. Instantly, the sound of murmuring drowned out everything else; Tony's decision left everyone utterly baffled.
Pepper was also mind-fuzzed by Tony's baffling maneuver...
Her entire person froze in place!
Why hadn't he discussed it with her beforehand? Such a sudden appointment was something she couldn't accept, and could the board of directors accept it?
The only calm presence in the entire banquet hall was Chen Xi, because he had known all along that Tony would do this.
"Is Mr. Chen Xi not surprised in the least? Looking around, it seems as though you knew beforehand."
Just at that moment, an elegant and intellectual female voice drifted over.
Chen Xi turned slightly to look, only to see an alluring wine-red figure gracefully approaching.
