Background

Chen Xi spent part of his early life in an orphanage. After becoming able to support himself, he left but continued buying supplies for the younger children there. Those memories later shape his response to impoverished Mutant children. 74

He arrives in the Marvel Universe as a man from another world with knowledge of its expected events. At the story’s outset, Wanda Maximoff works as his secretary, and he receives a system-granted choice of power that leads to his Kryptonian transformation. 1 7

After fusing with the Super Kryptonian template, Chen Xi struggles to restrain his strength but rapidly establishes himself by confronting Abomination and Hulk. He defeats Abomination, treats the battle as combat training, and later retaliates against General Ross when Ross orders an attack on him. 2 4 5

Chen Xi initially approaches heroism opportunistically: he accepts Justice Point missions, delegates routine crime-fighting to Terminators, and focuses much of his effort on solar absorption and template advancement. Appearance

Chen Xi is most commonly depicted in a black Symbiote Suit designed around a Superman-inspired silhouette. He originally conceals his identity beneath a hood and mask when entering public battles. 4 13

Despite his opportunism, Chen Xi is capable of loyalty and compassion toward people he considers his own. His concern for Wanda, Jean Grey, Mutant children, and later civilians affected by war becomes increasingly genuine, culminating in his commitment to Dream City and his decision to witness the wider world’s suffering firsthand. 34 75 124
