Background / History
Luo Tai led the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group in Stone Desert City and had dominated the city’s mercenary world for decades. By the time of his conflict with the Desert Iron Mercenary Group, accumulated hidden injuries had reduced him from his former peak, though he remained a Five-Star Battle Master. 41 42
He spoiled his only bloodline, Luo Yi, throughout the boy’s life, enabling Luo Yi’s lawless and arrogant behavior. Luo Tai also adopted Lin Qi, who regarded him as a godfather. 42 43
Appearance
Luo Tai was a somewhat plump man around fifty, with black hair, cloudy aged eyes, and an outwardly mild expression that often concealed hostility. 41 42
- Often wore a hypocritical smile during negotiations. 41
- His eyes became bloodshot and his expression openly murderous when Luo Yi was endangered. 45 46
- Equipped himself with soft armor and a jade spear before departing for the Poplar Forest. 44 45
Personality
Luo Tai was calculating, disciplined, and politically shrewd. During the Mercenary Association meeting, he defended the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group’s retreat from the Snake-People battle as a necessary decision, then offered an apology to preserve peace in Stone Desert City rather than escalate publicly. 41
Beneath this restraint, he was ruthless and vindictive. Once reconciliation with the Desert Iron Mercenary Group became impossible, he resolved to strike first and threatened to exterminate not only Xiao Ding and Xiao Li, but the entire Desert Iron Mercenary Group and their households. 42 44
His greatest weakness was Luo Yi. Luo Tai recognized traps and repeatedly urged calm, but the sight of his son being tortured by venomous snakes overwhelmed his judgment and drove him into Qing Mo and Qing Lin’s prepared killing ground. 42 45 46
Abilities & Skills
Five-Star Battle Master
Luo Tai possessed Five-Star Battle Master cultivation, making him one of the principal powers supporting the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group. 41
- Manifested a half-inch-thick garment of earth-yellow Dou Qi, the defining defensive ability of a Battle Master. 46
- His Dou Qi garment instantly burst apart attacking venomous snakes. 46
- Reacted quickly enough to narrowly evade Qing Mo’s concealed flying knife, though the attack still tore his protective garment and cut his throat. 46
- Was ultimately overwhelmed by Qing Lin’s controlled Tier-Two magical beasts and the Scarlet-Scaled Sand Python’s venom. 46 47
Spear Combat
Luo Tai fought with the Jade Serpent Spear during the Poplar Forest confrontation. 45
- Used the spear to prop open the Sand Sea Giant Python’s jaws while attempting to escape with Luo Yi. 46
- The spear’s shaft eventually snapped under the python’s bite force, leaving him unable to evade the fatal attack. 47
Leadership and Tactical Judgment
As the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group’s leader, Luo Tai commanded its elite mercenaries and made strategic decisions under pressure. 44
- Detected that the Desert Iron Mercenary Group’s disturbance at the headquarters was likely a diversion. 42
- Ordered Lin Qi to restore his Dou Qi before entering the Poplar Forest, warning that panic would lead them into a trap. 45
- Mobilized roughly twenty elite group members, all Fighters or above, to support the rescue of Luo Yi. 44
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Jade Serpent Spear — Luo Tai’s weapon during the Poplar Forest rescue attempt. 45 46
- Storage Ring — worn on his right hand and recovered from his corpse by Qing Mo. 44 47
- Blackrock Soft Armor — protective armor worn beneath his clothes; recovered in damaged condition after his death. 47
- Qi-Recovery Pills — carried in his Storage Ring and given to Lin Qi before entering the forest. 45
Relationships
- Luo Yi — His only biological son and greatest personal weakness; Luo Tai’s attempt to rescue him led directly to his death. 43 45 47
- Lin Qi — Adopted son and vice leader of the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group; Luo Tai reprimanded him for leaving enemies alive, but relied on him during the rescue operation. 42 44
- Xiao Ding — Enemy leader of the Desert Iron Mercenary Group; Luo Tai viewed him as a dangerous schemer and vowed to destroy him and his group. 42 44
- Xiao Li — Enemy commander whose anger over the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group’s retreat fueled the feud between the two groups. 41
- Qing Mo — Opponent who arranged the concealed flying-knife strike and participated in the trap that killed Luo Tai. 46 47
- Qing Lin — Opponent whose control over serpent-type magical beasts enabled the Sand Sea Giant Python and Scarlet-Scaled Sand Python ambush. 47 49
Story Role / Major Arcs
Conflict with the Desert Iron Mercenary Group
Following the Poison Dragon Mercenary Group’s retreat during the Snake-People battle, Luo Tai defended the decision before Xiao Ding and Xiao Li at the Mercenary Association. He offered a public apology, but Xiao Ding rejected it in favor of settling the matter through mercenary rules. 41
Luo Tai recognized that the feud had become irreconcilable. He considered Xiao Ding and Xiao Li dangerous long-term threats and resolved to eliminate them before they could grow stronger. 42
Luo Yi’s Abduction
When Luo Yi disappeared, Luo Tai quickly deduced that the disturbance at his headquarters had been a feint intended to draw him and Lin Qi away. After receiving the kidnappers’ letter, he assembled the group’s elite forces and set out for the Poplar Forest. 42 43 44
Death at the Poplar Forest
Luo Tai entered the forest to rescue Luo Yi, correctly recognizing the site as a trap but proceeding because his son was in immediate danger. He endured Qing Mo’s concealed flying knife, then faced a Sand Sea Giant Python and a concealed Scarlet-Scaled Sand Python. 45 46
The Scarlet-Scaled Sand Python pierced his Dou Qi defense, injected venom into his neck, and constricted him. Luo Tai used his remaining strength to push Luo Yi away before the Sand Sea Giant Python bit him in half. 47
