"Why hasn't Qingyin arrived yet? Are these damn Bloodkin really that hard to deal with?"
Inside the largest factory at the center, Feiyan rested her cheek on her hand and voiced her bafflement.
Yuyan and Yalin, her teammates, sat on either side of her.
In front of them, an adult male and female Bloodkin were tied up, making the scene look like an interrogation.
Some time ago, they had cleaned out the evil organization's members from the factory and disposed of the remote-controlled bombs as well.
They had waited at the central factory for a long time. Even after all three members of their team had successfully gathered, Qingyin was nowhere to be seen.
The tedious waiting was far too boring, and they had no idea when they would get to see Qingyin again.
With the three of them together, Feiyan's idea machine automatically kicked in, and she suggested acting ahead of schedule.
The Bloodkin of the Blood Purity Court were nothing but a ragtag mob.
Without hesitation, the three of them had stormed in and turned the central factory upside down.
The outer members had all been knocked unconscious and tied up outside, while these two Bloodkin were internal members with some status. They could be interrogated for information.
But since interrogating intelligence was the key to the mission, they did not dare act rashly.
They were afraid they would be unable to distinguish truth from lies, so they wanted Qingyin to oversee things.
"Could she be watching us perform from the shadows?" Yuyan voiced her guess.
Wasn't that what team-leading teachers always did?
"I think that's very likely." Yalin nodded in agreement.
Suddenly, a chunk of rubble appeared and landed before them.
Immediately afterward, Qingyin seemed to flicker into the scene, moving so quickly that even they, fellow magical girls, could not track her.
"Was I late?" Qingyin had performed a Flying Thunder God-like spatial transfer.
It would have been a cool entrance if one ignored the ceiling beneath her feet and the huge hole in the roof above her head.
What Flying Thunder God? She had just dropped down from a high place with one kick.
If there were a higher-level magical girl evaluation system, Qingyin would have had extra pay deducted for causing unnecessary damage.
"You're way too late, Qingyin!" Feiyan complained lightly.
"Not that late." Qingyin defended herself as she looked around at the situation.
"Looks like you've already finished."
"Yep, yep. Next comes the part where we torture and interrogate the Blood Purity Court's internal members." Feiyan pointed at the two tied-up vampires.
"I surrender. I will truthfully report all the intelligence, without even the slightest falsehood," the male Bloodkin said.
As every magical girl present looked at him with suspicion or confusion, he continued.
"My name is Iron Magnet, and hers is Blood Drinker. We never wanted to join this evil organization in the first place. We were forced into it."
Their names screamed disposable side characters.
"What do you mean, forced into it? If you didn't want to join, you could've just quit!" Feiyan immediately snapped back.
"What outer members and internal members? The Blood Purity Court has no such distinction. We're all just slaves exploited by those above us." Iron Magnet sighed helplessly.
"Do you know what Bloodkin usually eat?"
"Iron? Because your name is Iron Magnet?" Feiyan asked in confusion.
"Hey, hey, hey, just because I'm called Iron Magnet doesn't mean Bloodkin eat iron." Iron Magnet stared at Feiyan speechlessly.
"Rice?" Yuyan offered.
"We do eat it, but it isn't essential." Iron Magnet shook his head.
"Fries with ketchup and bread with strawberry jam!" Yalin wiped the corner of her mouth.
"That's just what the hell you want to eat!" Iron Magnet could not help shouting before looking toward Qingyin, the last one who had not spoken and seemed like the most mature among them.
"Blood." Qingyin gave the answer he wanted to hear.
"That's right. We Bloodkin must replenish our blood supply on schedule to maintain our health." Iron Magnet calmed down again and slowly explained.
"But they added addictive ingredients to the blood food and developed specially made blood food.
"If we can't find a substitute, then for that soul-touching rush, we have no choice but to work for them.
"The Blood Purity Court is an evil organization established specifically to purify Bloodkin bloodlines. They extract all kinds of pure bloodlines to purify their own bloodlines.
"The outer and inner members are all nothing more than black slaves for the cadres."
"Impossible!" Feiyan blurted out without thinking.
"If blood food addictive enough to enslave you existed, magical girls would have eradicated it long ago!"
Not allowing any DP that enslaved living beings to exist was one of the most fundamental principles.
"To put it bluntly, you're indulging your own selfish desires. You can't control that little craving, so you willingly help evil do evil," Yuyan added.
"I don't believe no Bloodkin have ever resisted the blood food craving you're talking about. Do you dare say you've never seen one?" Yalin pressed the interrogation.
"Heh. A group of young girls." Iron Magnet laughed in exasperation. There was no communicating with magical girls this inexperienced.
"You don't understand at all. It's like being addicted to smoking—you can replace it with alcohol and quit cigarettes.
"If you become addicted to alcohol, you can replace it with chewing bigfruit and quit drinking.
"When you're addicted to something, it's hard to get rid of that craving. But replacing it with another addiction is easy.
"You understand what I mean, don't you, you cold and aloof magical girl?"
Iron Magnet looked toward Qingyin, who was leading these young magical girls.
As long as she acknowledged and understood him, the opinions of the other magical girls were insignificant.
"I understand." Qingyin nodded slightly.
"It's wonderful that you understand. I really had no choice," Iron Magnet said gratefully.
"That isn't an excuse. If you think you can't easily quit the rush from specially made blood food, then just find something else to get addicted to." Qingyin stated it as though it were obvious.
"How could it be that easy?" Iron Magnet argued.
"As an adult male Bloodkin, I don't smoke, drink, or chew bigfruit. I have no idea what else in the human world is worth getting addicted to."
"Boobs." Qingyin calmly spoke the word.
Boom.
A bolt from the blue struck Iron Magnet squarely on the head. In a daze, he lost all strength to argue and slumped against the back of his chair.
"If you're a normal adult man, then you know what I mean. Would you refuse? Aren't they addictive?" Qingyin pressed on.
"Eh?!"
"Ugh!?"
"Huh??"
Feiyan, Yuyan, and Yalin were visibly shocked by Qingyin's words.
Was this really a topic they could discuss openly? Adults really were something else!
"I was wrong. Completely, utterly wrong," Iron Magnet said with immense emotion.
The color drained from him, turning his whole style black and white as he leaned back and stared through the hole at the starry night sky.
The stars were beautiful, like boobs.
If he got another chance, he would change his name. He would no longer be called Iron Magnet.
The rush from the Blood Purity Court's specially made blood food no longer seemed like much in his memories. He had realized there were better things in life.
"He has something else to get addicted to, but what about me?" Blood Drinker took the chance to speak.
"I'm the one who truly has no choice. I'm not into women, so I'm not interested in that kind of thing.
"Then you can suck... mmph!"
Before Qingyin could finish, Feiyan and Yuyan's hands stacked together and tightly covered her mouth.
"I hope it isn't what I think it is. It isn't what I think it is, right? Don't say that kind of thing again!" Feiyan strictly forbade it.
"If it isn't what we think it is, Qingyin, we'll let go in a moment, and then you can say it." Yuyan added in agreement.
After seeing that Qingyin was not struggling, the two slowly released her mouth and looked at her with a certain expectation.
Qingyin did not say a word.
The hearts of the two magical girls hanging in suspense died.
"Why can't she say it? Isn't it perfectly normal?" Yalin asked in confusion from her seat.
"For the sake of life, don't say it."
"For the sake of tomorrow, don't say it."
For the sake of serialization, don't say it.
Feiyan and Yuyan, along with some unknown narrator, wore exhausted smiles.
