I was unconscious.
Yet my mind was perfectly clear.
That description might have sounded contradictory, but I could clearly recognize myself and knew the situation I was in.
"Is this... my Consciousness Ocean?"
"You've come here again."
It was a familiar female voice—the fragment of consciousness.
"You failed last time, but don't give up. You still have a chance to start over."
Failed... did she mean I had failed to see Mi Xue?
I demanded, "Who exactly are you? Isn't it about time you told me?!"
"I am... who I am isn't important..."
Her answer was still vague, but her voice was clearer than before... When had I last heard her voice?
My thoughts were in disarray. There was something important I couldn't remember—a blank space.
"You need to learn to distinguish reality from virtuality. You need to see the truth of the New World. You need to save Mi Xue. That child is about to--------"
A monotonous signal tone cut in, as though part of the message had been censored.
It was unbearable. In this incorporeal state, I couldn't even cover my ears to block it out.
This fragment seemed unable to reveal certain information to me. Had Mi Xue interfered?
I didn't know whether the problem lay with me or with her.
"The answers that cannot be conveyed to you are ones you must seek for yourself."
The fragment returned to speaking in riddles. "Falling unconscious in the virtual world is the best chance to awaken in reality."
Was the Lunar Palace virtual?
Or was the New World virtual?
The Consciousness Fragment never got to the point. I had a hard time understanding what she was trying to tell me.
What exactly did she want me to do? Wasn't Mi Xue in the Lunar Palace?
"Wake up quickly."
