With Mi Xue's approval, we naturally had the confidence to investigate Black Rabbit.
She loved playing games and talking in riddles, only for her daughter to see through her scheme. Not only had it driven a wedge between mother and daughter, but her plan had fallen apart, too.
That was probably what they meant by trying to gain something only to lose what you already had.
"Miluno, she's here."
As Ceruno said that, Black Rabbit appeared inside the hotel room without even opening the door. She straightened her clothes and sat down in front of us.
"What did you want to discuss with me?" she asked.
"Talking is too much trouble. Come merge with me again."
"You still want to become one at this point?"
"Of course. No matter how much time passes, we're still the same person. Or are you hiding some secret you don't want me to know?"
Black Rabbit didn't answer, but the half step she took backward made it clear she wasn't going to give me what I wanted.
Even in the New World, she could use the Morning Star Crystal's power. Catching her with magic alone would be difficult, but the advantage in sheer scale that radiance gave us allowed Ceruno and me to strike on a higher level...
The room's door disappeared.
"You can't get out. Don't even think about it."
I stretched a little, then walked unhurriedly toward my other self.
"The windows are no good either, of course. You probably understand why Ceruno and I can do this, don't you? Your precious daughter gave her tacit approval."
"Miluno, enough talking."
Ceruno looked exasperated. With her overly kind nature, she disliked suspecting others. Investigating Black Rabbit before we had any evidence clearly didn't sit well with her.
