The Superbrain hadn't agreed to my request outright, but it hadn't refused, either.
"Therefore, I do not have permission to replace the 'Life Management System.'"
"Then what can you do to help me out of this mess?"
The Superbrain Cube kept flashing.
"Beep beep. I can serve as a channel of communication between you. The 'Life Management System' must answer any inquiries I initiate truthfully."
That part of its rules sounded very machine-like, but this AI seemed surprisingly human.
"Then can you communicate with another little system?"
Mono wasn't in my head right now. If I could contact her, perhaps there would be a way to change our situation.
With nothing but this useless little handheld computer... or rather, this Wenquxing... I probably had no chance of getting out of the "great blood."
"Beep beep. Connecting... please wait... (dial tone)"
It was dialing already?
"Hello? Who's this? I'm busy! Can't you just get to the point?"
The voice coming from the Superbrain Cube was unmistakably Mono's loud, boisterous voice.
"Are you seriously taking phone calls in there?"
"Huh? Miluno? You're still alive!"
"Why do you sound so surprised? Did you think I was dead?"
Unbelievable. I'd been so worried about her, and she'd still sounded that cocky while thinking I was dead?
"Nooo, no. So where are you now?"
Her denial felt awfully halfhearted. She went on:
"After the 'great blood' absorbed me, I became part of her body, but she hasn't done anything to me yet. I can move freely within a certain area... oh, right, Miluno. Is it reality over there?"
"Reality?"
I didn't understand the point of her question.
