The plan had gone awry. Xiaoling's magic had no effect whatsoever on the "Great Blood." Even magic resistance shouldn't have made it completely ineffective.
If she really bore us no hostility, what was driving her actions?
Reason?
Or her own duty?
The "Great Blood's" lance slammed into Dad's tower shield, while SpiCa's White Silk pulled Xiaoling aside.
That brief failure plunged the situation back into a stalemate where neither side could do anything to the other.
"Ceruno, what should we do now?"
As Miss Terra asked that, she raised her trident again, sweeping out several clean flashes of cold light. The blade at its tip severed the "Great Blood's" right arm, but before it could hit the ground, a new arm had already grown from the wound. Against an opponent who simply wouldn't die... what would Miluno do?
...She would probably run away.
Miluno seemed haughty and took great pride in herself, but she never hesitated when it was time to flee. It wasn't a shameful choice. Sometimes running away was a coolheaded, excellent strategy.
So...
"Miss Terra, the 'Great Blood' is after us. If we can lead her back to the 'other half,' the City School will only need to return before the bubble bursts..."
Without any attacks, the bubble would last until they made it back.
Miss Terra objected, however.
"No. This hardly counts as running away, does it? How would you survive? Besides, how can you guarantee she'll follow you back? She's already shown considerable intelligence. She isn't an opponent you can make assumptions about."
"I know, but I believe she'll follow us."
I wasn't underestimating the "Great Blood."
"What makes you believe that?"
"We can't understand the logic behind the 'Great Blood's' actions through our own way of thinking. She's more like a simple program.
