Fenrir pulled the earphone from her ear. Her wolf ears twitched a few times, shaking off the discomfort of wearing it for so long, and she glanced at the old radio in her hand.
Then she turned to Alice and Little Jack, who were curiously studying the device.
"...What is that?" Alice asked when Fenrir finally took off the earphone.
Little Jack stared at it with wide-eyed curiosity too. Several adhesive bandages and strips of gauze covered her arm in exactly the same places as Alice's.
"This? It's a transistor radio. I listened to one every day at the orphanage when I was little. That was years ago," Fenrir answered.
The radio was practically an electronic antique, as big and heavy as a brick. Its sound quality couldn't compare to modern devices, but it was sturdy and worked with almost anything. Plug in any wired earphones, tune to a station, and you could hear the news. During blackouts and disasters, it was one of the best ways to stay informed.
