After stealing Earthly Radiance, Wen became the target of the Sword-Hunting Alliance. Already suffering internal injuries from heavenly lightning, Vajra Palm force, and Vajra Brahma Sound, she tested Li Xian's loyalty by feigning helplessness before Xi Shanjian's ambush. Once he intervened, she slaughtered the attackers and flayed Xi Shanjian with 3,798 strikes of the Avici Extreme Sword to deter further pursuit. 222 223

Her condition worsened when Ma Zhongguang planted a Qi-Eating Gu in her Qi Lake. The gu devoured her stored Inner Qi and consumed any new qi she attempted to cultivate, leaving her vulnerable to enemies she would ordinarily have crushed. 225 226

Before her reserves were exhausted, she continued controlling encounters through basic martial arts and precise timing. Eventually, wounds, depleted qi, and fatigue allowed Zhang Hu and Li Quan to capture her, setting the stage for Li Xian's intervention. 227 228 229

Reversal of the Mistress–Servant Dynamic

During their escape, Wen was wounded, immobilized by the Marrow-Sealing Finger, and forced to depend on Li Xian for food, medicine, shelter, and protection. The crisis exposed a warmer and more playful side of her character, while also forcing her to acknowledge that she had schemed against Li Xian far more than he owed her. 231 232

As a concrete gesture of trust, she placed the poisonous Ancestor Silkworm inside the Heaven-and-Earth Treasure Casket and allowed Li Xian to keep it. This surrendered a hidden contingency that he had already discovered. 231

She taught Li Xian the Seven-Star Step and explained the principle of a martial arts “school,” helping him combine complementary techniques into stronger systems. 232 235

At Fragrant Chaos Mountain, the two assessed the surrounding sect forces together. Wen contributed her knowledge of the sects, terrain, and geomancy, while Li Xian devised their strategy. After further encounters with Zhang Hu, Wen briefly ceded decision-making to Li Xian and took comfort in his promise to protect her. She proposed returning to the manor to remove the gu, then living together and accompanying him on future travels. 245 246

Their journey through Tiger-Cry Ridge eventually left them lost in Resting Forest. They built a wooden lodge, and Wen used feng shui, star observations, and historical knowledge to guide a search for nearby tombs. She identified Tomb-Hoard Mountain as a possible site of the Pure Yang Hermit's inheritance and prepared Li Xian with knowledge of tombs, Nanyang history, and Lü Dongzhi. The pair later practiced the Yin-Yang Immortal Companions Sword together. Their yin and yang qi resonated, slowing the Qi-Eating Gu and allowing Wen to teach Li Xian the true third level of the Waning Sun Blood-Draining Sword. 259

Separation and Pursuit

Wen's possessiveness reached a breaking point when she asked Li Xian to gouge out his Double Pupils so that he could only look at her. Though he appeared to agree, he left her at One Accord Manor after deciding that his debt to her had been repaid. 260

After returning to the manor, Wen began dismantling the internal injuries and restraints accumulated during their flight. Her treatment greatly weakened the Qi-Eating Gu, Marrow-Sealing Finger, and lingering palm and lightning forces. Discovering that Li Xian had not returned, she initially feared for his safety and rode out that night to search for him. 260

She reacted by mobilizing the manor's guards, intimidating Li Xian's associates, and tracking him through silkworm threads secretly placed in his hair. Despite her rage, she repeatedly ordered that he be captured alive and protected from serious harm. 261 268

The loyalty Li Xian's associates showed him also checked her violence: although she had intended to vent her resentment, their sincerity left her unable to begin a massacre. Wen later used the Spirit Fox Banquet in Flying Dragon City to force Li Xian out of hiding. After capturing him, she sealed his martial power with the Heavy Meridian Finger, gave him Dawn Yellow Dew, and kept him at Jade Fragrance Water Pavilion under close control. 316 318 319

She charged his pursuit and her relocation expenses to him, presenting a bill of 2,970,000 taels of silver. Her threatened punishment was intended to frighten and discipline him rather than kill him; his willingness to accept death instead of pleading unsettled her. Dragonheart Acupoint

Wen infiltrated the Nine-Aperture Dragonheart Acupoint beneath Flying Dragon City and manipulated City Lord He Wentian into activating its mechanisms. Her scheme trapped him underground, but also awakened bell chimes capable of suppressing Inner Qi and martial manifestations. 334

Her departure for the northern outskirts also involved a plan to kill Gu Nianjun, whom she regarded as a rival for Li Xian's affection. She had secretly placed threads in Gu Nianjun's body and intended to use the dangerous terrain to conceal the killing. Meanwhile, she believed Li Xian remained trapped within her Eight Absolute Seals cocoon. 334

When the Five-Mountain Sword Alliance besieged her within the tomb, Li Xian publicly defended her. Their reunion included both reconciliation and jealousy, with Wen taking pleasure in his protection while objecting to his restraint toward a female opponent. 335 336 337

Wen's geomantic expertise allowed her to guide Li Xian out of the underground passages. Once the bell's suppression disappeared, she immediately sealed his strength again and returned with him to Jade Fragrance Water Pavilion. 340

The Five-Mountain Sword Alliance subsequently challenged them at her residence. Wen and Li Xian fought together with the Yin-Yang Immortal Companions Sword, though Wen deliberately withheld support to test and humble him. Their paired swordsmanship defeated the alliance's elders. 341 342 343

Li Xian's Grand Self Realm attainment allowed him to turn the sword art's momentum against Wen herself. He eventually restrained her using techniques she had taught him, then left her bound for Xiao Tuan to rescue. 343 344 353

His restraints combined silkworm bindings with the paired sword art's circulating yin and yang, making Wen unable to release herself despite her superior cultivation. During their remaining days together, she continued instructing him in worldly affairs and martial experience. Wen continued to pursue her own plans while remaining emotionally entangled with Li Xian. She sold her Flying Dragon City properties before its upheaval, warned Shan Guyun against arrogance, and reflected that Li Xian's humility and diligence surpassed the qualities of many celebrated prodigies. 354

She later retrieved the Ecliptic Bow with assistance from Tiger Luo Sect after preparing to reenter Tiger-Cry Ridge. Li Xian saw her while concealed beneath his Ugly-Faced Doctor disguise, but she did not recognize him. Both remained unwilling to fully abandon the other. 378

Wen turned her defeat by Li Xian into insight, bringing the Frost Moon Waxing-Waning Sword to Peak Mastery. Seeking to deepen her understanding, she outmaneuvered the Five-Mountain Sword Alliance through the Sword Bell's rules: rather than entering the mountain, she rang the bell from afar with arrows and secured the Old Sword Master's agreement to provide the Sword Repository Canon. After receiving Li Xian's letter, Wen inferred from its seasonal details that he was probably in Jade City. The letter described his martial progress and warned her about Wang Xuanchu's death.
