Background

Li Xian originated from an ordinary hunter family and later became a low-ranking servant at One Accord Manor. While assigned to weeding, he secretly trained Wild Ox Fist and cultivated a survival philosophy based on the persistence of wild grass. Forced into exhausting water-carrying labor for Madam Zhuang’s Essence Treasure, he endured through inner force and the resilience he gained from labor rather than abandoning his training. 5 290

His memories from a previous life merged with those of the body's original owner, allowing the latter's affection for Li Xiaofan to continue naturally. Their father left behind only an incomplete, three-form Wild Ox Fist manual as useful property. After their father's suicide, Li Xian assumed a father-like responsibility for his younger brother. Facing starvation and cold, he entered the manor rather than allow Xiao Fan to abandon his studies before the examinations. 1 15

During his first days of service, Li Xian witnessed brutal humiliations inflicted on servants by Bi Hao. He raised Weed Pulling to Proficiency, earned three copper coins and a night's rest for completing his work, and resolved to retain his awareness of suffering rather than become numb to it. 2

He gambled on the manor guards’ competition, registering at the last possible moment to evade steward Luo Fang’s interference. By training through the night, scaling the servants’ rear wall, and arriving just in time, he secured the chance to become a guard. 7 Pang Long formally instructed him in Four Directions Fist, but Luo Fang bribed tutor Luo Tongyun to mislead him. Li Xian detected the fraud because the false forms yielded no proficiency, quietly returned to his original practice, and broke through instead. 12 13

His rapid victories in the Grade-C House Guard contest raised him from Grade-D to Grade-C in less than a month. He defeated veteran Ye Qing through feints and flaws in his technique, then overcame the stronger Gao Xiong by combining Four Directions Fist with Wild Bull Fist. 31 32 Although One Accord Manor provided martial resources, Li Xian recognized that rank within the manor remained another form of servitude and resolved to seek strength that could not be taken away. 32 40

His early hunting exploits included acquiring a Tiger Saliva Stone and killing a Ghost-Patterned Biao by exploiting terrain, injuring its eye, and luring it over a cliff before repeatedly shooting its heart. He later selected Great Luo Saber as another basic art and fulfilled his promise to remove the facial marks on Zhao Han, Zhuo Yilie, and Wang Chun with Jade Luo Palm. 49 66

After surviving Zheng Blood Palm with the protection of his Fish-Scale Chest Armor and the intervention of a white snake, Li Xian returned to Black River Village to find the villagers holding what they believed was his funeral. He was then summoned back to the manor following his promotion to commander. Later, when Cao Kai framed him and tortured Martial Commandant Hall's runners, Li Xian gathered allies and planned an assault on the county yamen with three hundred guards and Luo Xia's county soldiers. 109 163

After becoming a Martial Commandant, Li Xian cultivated the Waning Sun Blood-Draining Sword, Iron-Copper Body Technique, and Essence Consumption. His relationship with Wen Caishang also involved repeated struggles over autonomy. He rescued her from Sword Rain Tower's pursuers and persuaded her to entrust Ancestor Silkworm to his casket. After their subsequent river journey and the rescue of Wang Cuicui, Wen Caishang demanded that he gouge out his Double Pupils so he could look only at her. Li Xian outwardly agreed but secretly left a farewell letter and escaped, judging that she still regarded him as a tool. Within the Water Altar, Li Xian established Green Ox Residence with Nangong Liuli and pursued a cooperative arrangement to obtain resources and eventually escape. His destruction of the Water-Gold Den brought merit currency and treasure, which he sold or traded for medicinal-bath equipment and other resources. He also observed Han Zisha cooking Essence Food with the Waterstone Treasure Cauldron and shared the resulting demon turtle flesh with Nangong Liuli. 283 294 295

Following the Water Altar’s fall, Li Xian traveled independently before entering Jade City as a debtor slave and practicing medicine under a concealed identity. He used a probationary opportunity from Xu Shaoqian to join the Gold-Seeking Guard, mastering Heavenly Pivot Saber Method, Stone-Pushing Palm Method, and Suffering Body Scripture within a month. 383 404 406 His success as a case-solver and criminal hunter elevated him through Gold Captain, Gold Steward, Lang General, and finally Central Lang General. 427 428 478 506

Before establishing himself in Jade City, Li Xian challenged Jade Maiden Zhao Ranran over Nangong Liuli's treatment. After his heart meridians were shattered, he survived beneath Dongran Lake by eating rare fish and Night Clams while slowly recovering. There he discovered a jade thumb ring and a responsive sword, named it the Wishful Treasure Sword, and eventually escaped the lake. His later Deathwish Valley victories earned him the name Guilt Sword and substantial Essence Treasures. 372 374 390 394

As his position stabilized, Li Xian expanded his businesses and civic responsibilities. He opened the Li Clan Medical Shop with Yao Fan and Iron Fu, reformed Tailstreet Marquis Wu Station, recommended Bai Qinghao for Lang General, and purchased Comings-and-Goings Inn for Wang Kuquan to manage. During a spring outing with Tao Xiangrong, he painted eighteen portraits that she arranged to auction for the benefit of refugees and poor families. 489 516 552

During the Mad Slaughter Pirate Alliance crisis, Li Xian treated the escaped Li Kuo, warned Zhao Yingqiong about the Mithril Flower Cord, and helped prepare her concealed weapons before she entered the pirates' territory in exchange for captured guards. He remained behind to command the fleet and monitor events through planted hairs and the Calamity Crow. 591

After returning to Jade City, Li Xian celebrated his Silver Body promotion and was placed in charge of the Flower Cage Sect investigation, with temporary army responsibilities also intended for Zhao Yingqiong's seclusion. He discovered that the Nine Dragon Ghosts' supposed Dragon Register quest was a fabrication intended to use him to locate their stolen Ant Book and the dragon corpse he secretly possessed. Li Hengfeng subsequently confirmed that the Heavenly Mechanism Lotus was in the Flower Cage Sect. 601

Li Xian infiltrated the Flower Cage Sect under the name Hua Wucuo at Zhao Ranran's direction. When Jin Feng learned his real name, she became suspicious and ordered investigations into his Jade City residences and military station. At the Mud House, Li Xian privately revealed himself to the restrained Zhao Yingqiong, and they agreed to cooperate. He ultimately escaped the Flower Cage with the precious lotus. 627 639

Following the escape, Li Xian discussed retaliation against Commandery Princess Anyang with Tao Xiangrong, who supported him while insisting that he prepare an escape route. He continued refining artifacts and martial arts while arranging to lure the princess into an ambush. 644 645

He is observant, strategic, and patient rather than conventionally heroic. He notices sabotage through practical results, waits for advantageous timing, conceals strength when exposure would be dangerous, and prepares disguises, poison, weapons, and escape routes before acting. 13 56 69 186

Li Xian is compassionate toward people he considers deserving of protection, particularly his younger brother, subordinates, and victims of injustice. He rescued Wang Xiaomian, mobilized a massive search for Song Ya, and spent heavily to treat Li Bohou’s severed legs. 428 438 497 However, he is also capable of calculated cruelty, betrayal, and lethal force against enemies when survival or secrecy requires it. 265 440

He does not attach his self-worth to status or opportunities granted by others. Even after losing the Candle Decree and the resources it promised, he regarded it as something that had never belonged to him. 291

Li Xian is also cheerful, broad-minded, and socially adaptable. His easygoing manner and skill in dealing with people gradually win the respect of soldiers, lineage youths, merchants, and martial travelers. His interests extend to medicine, craftsmanship, painting, poetry, and the natural world, but he regards Martial Dao as his foundation and other disciplines as supplementary. At Peak Mastery, Flicked-Finger Golden Light grants Stone-to-Gold. Li Xian can transform suitable objects into weightless golden light, shrink them to a speck, and restore them during an attack. Initially, transformation required time and inner breath, with a single pebble costing one zhang; a dragon corpse could not be transformed because it did not qualify as “stone,” despite being dead. 533

He combines Stone-to-Gold with the Wishful Treasure Sword, projecting the transformed sword and recalling it through the jade thumb ring.
