If Jennifer were a sleek red sports car with exceptional performance, then Edward was the seasoned driver gripping the wheel in a race against life and death.

For a sports car to break through the wind's resistance, everything depended on the driver's precise control. Edward's long fingers held the steering wheel as his foot slammed down on the accelerator. The engine let out a low roar, like a trapped beast breaking free of its shackles.

"Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom—"

The roar suddenly climbed in pitch. The tachometer needle jumped wildly, instantly breaking past the redline. The car shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow, and beneath the screech of tires against the ground lurked a burning urgency desperate for release.

In less than half an hour, the numbers on the dashboard had already surged to their limit. Anyone else would have eased off by now, but Edward insisted on flooring the pedal, his knuckles gripping the wheel as though he wanted every inch of this "car body" completely under his control.

The sports car became an untamed stallion in his hands, racing so fiercely it nearly left the ground. The roar from beneath the hood grew ever more frantic, carrying a hoarse strain as though it could no longer bear the burden.

After an unknown amount of time, the grating sound of metal friction mixed into the roar, like the wail of precision gears turning under excessive strain.

But Edward seemed not to hear it. His fingers clenched the steering wheel even tighter, making the car body tremble faintly as well.

Jennifer, this "sports car," had long since lost her initial sharpness. The tremors running through her body carried an indescribable softness, while the engine's panting grew weaker and weaker.

She could only shut her eyes tightly and surrender herself completely, allowing that irresistible force to drive her forward, hoping only that this out-of-control race would reach its end sooner.

Finally, with a piercing screech that nearly ground through the brake pads, Edward slammed on the brakes.

The car body jolted violently, then fell completely silent. The engine's lingering heat still rose into the air, while the scorched smell of tires spread together with a faint sweetness. Wind slipped in through the half-open window and brushed across the slightly heated car body. Amid the stillness, damp traces slowly settled.

The night had grown deep. The motel room was so quiet that they could hear each other breathing. Edward sat gently at the bedside, his tender gaze falling on the sleeping Jennifer. He reached out and slowly stroked her beautifully curved shoulder, his movements so gentle that he seemed afraid of disturbing the night's peace.

Jennifer slept soundly, her even breaths rising and falling in the silence.

After a while, Edward rose and paced over to the window.

By chance, he caught sight of three shadowy figures sneaking toward the woods behind the building. Their strange silhouettes looked especially mysterious under the moonlight, and suspicion immediately rose in Edward's heart.

He focused in the direction the shadows had gone and saw something deep in the woods glimmering faintly beneath the moonlight. The light flickered on and off, as though calling to him.

After a brief moment of thought, Edward quickly got dressed, quietly opened the door, and hurried toward the glowing woods.

Edward strode through the forest, dry branches and fallen leaves crunching beneath his feet. When he drew close, he was startled to see three figures preparing to enter a sunken hollow.

Seeing this, Edward immediately shouted, "Hey! What are you doing? This is private property!"

Hearing him, the three turned and saw a figure approaching quickly with a flashlight. They immediately panicked and, without another word, turned and ran.

Edward muttered in confusion, "What, they just ran? I thought there'd be some arguing."

(Andrew and the others—Chronicle)

Edward had remembered it while running over. This scene was exactly like the one from the movie Chronicle.

He remembered that beneath this seemingly ordinary patch of woods lay a mysterious crystal. If he obtained it, he would gain miraculous Telekinesis.

The instant the thought crossed his mind, Edward did not hesitate. He leaped forward and jumped into the mysterious pit.

The cave was filled with a damp smell tinged with decaying leaves. He carefully made his way along the rugged passage.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, a strange glow suddenly appeared ahead.

If you can't find a book by searching its title, try searching for the author instead. It may have simply been renamed!

As he approached, the legendary crystal came into view.

It was even larger than Edward had imagined, radiating a soft and mysterious halo as though it possessed life.

Unable to suppress his excitement, Edward slowly placed both hands on the crystal.

The instant his hands touched it, a cold, mechanical voice suddenly sounded in his mind: "Telekinesis acquired. Telekinesis +1+1+1+1+1. Telekinesis EX."

As the voice faded, the crystal, which had originally emitted a gentle glow, instantly turned red and began flashing violently. Its light became increasingly blinding.

Edward sharply sensed the disturbance around him. Pebbles began raining from the cave walls, and the entire underground cavern seemed on the verge of collapse.

He inwardly cursed, then turned and sprinted desperately toward the entrance as the thunderous crashes of falling rocks rang out behind him.

At last, Edward threw himself out of the pit.

When he turned back, gasping for breath, the pit had vanished without a trace as though it had evaporated into thin air. It was as if it had never existed at all, leaving behind only level ground and the quiet woods around it.

Exhausted, Edward returned to the motel.

He entered the bathroom and turned on the shower. Warm water streamed over his body. After bathing, he quietly walked to the bed and lay down beside the already sleeping Jennifer, soon falling into a deep sleep.

The next morning, before the first rays of sunlight had fully penetrated the gaps in the window, Edward woke early from his sleep.

He rubbed his drowsy eyes and lightly waved a hand through the air. A virtual system interface that only he could see instantly appeared before him.

Name: Edward Connor Gender: Male Age: 18 Main Quest: ??? Backpack: Ebony and Ivory, Pure Silver Cross x2, Gourmet Tablecloth, One-Star Dragon Ball Abilities: Eidetic Memory, Pure Yang Body, Charm +1, Enhanced Holy Light, Purification, Ox Talisman, Telekinesis EX Pet: Marquise Achievements: [Reverse Scamming]—Successfully made ghosts trip over you 3 times [First Blood]—Congratulations, you became a man Gold: 51879 Draw: Basic Draw 1000 for ten draws, Intermediate Draw 100000 for ten draws, Advanced Draw 1000000 for ten draws, Ultimate Draw 100000000 for ten draws

Edward stared at the system interface and fell into deep thought.

The crystal's energy had probably been converted into gold. Edward repeatedly weighed his options in his mind: should he use his current gold for fifty-one rounds of Basic Draw ten-pulls and test his luck?

Or should he keep saving and go directly for an Intermediate Draw? After all, the previous results from Basic Draw had been truly disappointing, and the chances of getting anything good were far too low.

What if all fifty-one draws gave him useless things like tissues and toothpaste? That would be utterly awful—he would lose everything.

Thinking it over, Edward still felt it would be better to save up for now. Testing out his Telekinesis first was not a bad idea either.
