In the Connor Household's living room, the stench of blood had become nauseatingly thick.
Bi huddled in a corner, trembling all over. Her three companions had all vanished, leaving behind only bloodstains and mangled limbs.
That harmless-looking little girl was like a vicious wolf in sheep's clothing, dragging them into the darkness one by one.
"Lily," Bi said in a trembling voice, "we can talk. I know you're not an ordinary child, but we aren't ordinary people either. We can work together..."
"Work together?" Lily's voice came from the darkness, carrying a childlike giggle. "Sister Bi, you wanted my blood, and I wanted your fear. It looks like I got more than you did."
Bi gritted her teeth and pulled a black crystal pendant from her clothes. This was her final trump card.
"Great Dorothy, your loyal servant begs you!" Bi held the pendant high, her voice becoming fanatical and devout. "Please descend in your divine might and save your humble follower!"
The pendant began to emit an eerie red glow, and the temperature in the entire living room abruptly dropped. The air filled with the cloying scent of rotting flowers.
A figure slowly emerged from the red light.
She wore an elaborate Gothic gown. Her appearance was both horrifying and gorgeous, her figure graceful, her makeup exaggerated and seductive. With pale skin, an icy beauty, and black attire, she gave off an aura of mystery and terror. An elegant yet cruel smile hung at the corner of her lips.
Dorothy, the beautiful witch of the underworld.
The moment she appeared, she lifted Bi with one hand. "Thank you for summoning me, darling." Dorothy's voice was as sweet as syrup. "But I'll be taking your soul."
The light in Bi's eyes quickly faded, and her body crumpled to the floor. Her soul turned into a silver mist and was inhaled into Dorothy's mouth.
Dorothy clapped her hands in satisfaction, then turned to look at Lily in the darkness.
"Interesting." A teasing smile curled her lips. "Look what I found—a demon that feeds on fear."
Lily stepped out of the shadows, her innocent big eyes gleaming in the darkness.
She tilted her head and curiously studied the beautiful witch who had suddenly appeared.
"Are you Dorothy?" Lily asked in her childish voice. "You're prettier than I imagined."
"Thank you for the compliment, little one." Dorothy gave an elegant bow. "But I'm more curious about why a demon like you is in the human world—and in such a cute form, no less."
Lily blinked, then suddenly burst into giggles. "Because I have an amazing master! He beat me up with Purification, and then I became like this."
"Purification?" Dorothy's eyes lit up. "Are you saying a human has mastered an angel's power?"
Dorothy fell silent for a moment, then revealed an even brighter smile.
"It seems this world is far more interesting than I imagined."
In a clearing on the back mountain of Crystal Lake, thunder rumbled as raindrops began to fall sporadically.
Edward and Jason stood facing each other, the air thick with razor-sharp killing intent.
"You know, big guy," Edward said, spinning the twin guns in his hands, "I actually admire you.
Killing people in the same place day after day for decades—that kind of professional dedication deserves respect."
Jason did not respond. He merely gripped the machete in his hand. Through his battered hockey mask, a pair of eyes full of murderous intent could faintly be seen.
"But," Edward's tone suddenly turned serious, "tonight, you're not facing those unarmed young people. I came prepared."
The moment he finished speaking, Jason moved.
The seemingly clumsy killer erupted with astonishing speed, rushing in front of Edward almost instantly.
The machete sliced down with a howl through the air, aimed directly at Edward's head.
Edward had been ready. He twisted his body to the right and narrowly avoided the fatal strike. At the same time, Ebony and Ivory fired together.
Bang! Bang!
Silver bullets tore through the night sky, but Jason reacted just as quickly. He raised his machete, and the bullets struck its blade in a shower of sparks.
But this time was different. Edward's bullets had been imbued with the power of Purification.
The instant the bullets hit the machete, a holy white light erupted. Jason let out a muffled grunt and involuntarily staggered back several steps.
"How was that?" Edward grinned. "Not a pleasant feeling, was it?"
Jason lowered his head to inspect his machete. Several tiny cracks had appeared on the blade. He raised his head, and the killing intent in his eyes grew even stronger.
He attacked again, this time even more fiercely. The machete whistled through the air in his hand, every strike carrying a deadly threat.
Edward kept dodging while his twin guns fired continuously. Ebony and Ivory's infinite bullets traced silver paths through the night, every shot filled with Purification's power.
Wounds began appearing on Jason's body. Wisps of white smoke rose from the places struck by the purified bullets. Yet he seemed unable to feel pain, and his attacks only became more frenzied.
"Tch, no wonder they call you immortal," Edward muttered as he dodged. "Looks like I'll have to get serious."
He suddenly stopped, crossing his twin guns before his chest.
Telekinesis!
An invisible force erupted instantly, violently hurling Jason away and slamming him into a large tree.
The trunk cracked loudly, and Jason's body left a human-shaped indentation in it.
But he quickly stood back up, as though the impact had been nothing more than a scratch.
"What a monster," Edward remarked.
Just then, terrified screams came from afar.
Something had happened at the camp.
In the girls' dormitory, Carrie was jolted awake by a clap of thunder. She sat up and discovered that it was raining outside, thunder rumbling one burst after another.
Her roommates were still asleep, but Carrie felt an inexplicable unease. She quietly got up, walked to the window, and looked outside.
The administrators' dormitory was completely dark, without a single light. That was highly unusual, since the administrators usually took turns standing night watch.
Carrie hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to go take a look. She quietly put on her coat, pushed open the door, and went outside.
Raindrops struck her face with a trace of chill. She headed toward the administrators' dormitory, her unease growing stronger with every step.
When she entered the first dorm room, she found the door open. Through the crack, she saw what was inside.
A corpse lay on the ground, its chest pierced through by something, blood pooling everywhere.
Carrie covered her mouth, barely managing to keep herself from screaming. She stumbled back trembling, but her foot slipped, and she fell into the mud.
"Ah—!" She finally could not hold back her scream.
That scream shattered the night's silence, and other students quickly woke up. Lights began coming on in the dormitories as students rushed out to see what had happened.
When they saw the horrific scene in the administrators' dormitory, panic spread instantly.
"Call the police!"
"The phones won't connect!"
"There's no signal!"
The students descended into chaos. Some cried, some screamed, and some tried to flee the camp, only to quickly discover that the road leading outside had been blocked by fallen trees.
"Everyone, calm down!" an upperclassman shouted. "Let's gather in the cafeteria first. It's safer there!"
The students hurried toward the cafeteria, and Carrie followed amid the crowd. But as she ran, she kept looking around for a familiar figure.
Edward was gone.
She could not see Edward anywhere.
Carrie suddenly understood. With Edward's personality, if a killer had truly appeared, he would never hide. He had definitely gone to find that killer.
Worry surged through Carrie's heart. She knew Edward was powerful, but his opponent was the legendary Jason.
Inside the cafeteria, more than thirty students crowded together, every face filled with fear. Thunder rolled outside, the rain fell harder and harder, and the entire camp seemed shrouded in the shadow of death.
"What should we do?" a girl asked through tears.
"Wait until dawn," the upperclassman said. "As long as we hold out until daylight, someone will come rescue us."
But Carrie knew that on this terrifying night, the only person who might be able to save them was the boy fighting the killer on the back mountain.
She clenched her fists tightly and prayed silently.
Edward, you have to come back safely.
