After saying that, Bai Mo immediately put on a pitiful expression, turned to Meng Hongchen, and blinked his pure golden eyes. "Sister Meng, from now on, I'll leave myself in your care. Just give me something to eat."
That struck directly at Meng Hongchen's soft spot. How could she withstand that? She cried, "So cute!" and rushed forward to pull Bai Mo tightly into her arms.
"Don't worry, don't worry. Big sis guarantees you'll eat and drink like royalty."
Bai Mo's vision went dark as his entire face was buried in a soft warmth carrying a young girl's sweet fragrance.
The suffocating sensation made his face flush instantly. His little hands flailed helplessly in the air, and he nearly got instantly defeated by Meng Hongchen's adorable little apples.
Space twisted and folded once more. When the scenery became clear again, Di Tian and Na'er had already appeared on a desolate snowfield more than a hundred li away from Blackstone Village.
The biting wind swept up powdery snow and howled past.
"Your Majesty."
Di Tian dropped to one knee, his head lowered, his posture respectful to the extreme.
Yet the "Na'er" before him was clutching her forehead in pain, her lovely brows tightly furrowed.
The innocence belonging to a young girl rapidly faded from those once-clear violet eyes, replaced by majesty tinged with a trace of coldness.
When she lowered her hand again, she was no longer Na'er.
She was the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yuena.
"Sanctuary Academy..."
Gu Yuena's voice was cold and devoid of emotion. "Once I resolve my problem, I'll go there myself."
Her expression was awful, not only because of her weakened body, but also because of the irritation and anger churning within her.
She raised a hand and could clearly feel that something was missing from her chest. The reverse scale that should have been tied to her life was gone.
That naïve fool "Na'er" had given it to that human named Bai Mo.
What did a reverse scale mean to dragons? It was a token exchanged only by partners who had promised to remain together for life.
And now, she, the dignified Silver Dragon King, had had her most precious reverse scale given away as a child's trinket.
This was utterly ridiculous.
She should never have ended up like this. If she had not received that message concerning the future of the entire Soul Beast race, she would never have forcefully taken human form while still grievously wounded, much less suffered an accident that caused her personality to split and made her lose her memories for a time.
Fortunately, fate seemed to have left her a sliver of leeway.
She had set her destination in advance and had also been picked up by the "right" person. Otherwise, she truly would have lost everything for nothing.
At the thought of that message, Gu Yuena's expression became exceedingly complicated.
She raised her head and looked toward the gloomy sky, as though she could see through the clouds to the existence watching this world from the unseen.
"The vessel chosen by Pure White End... Bai Mo."
She murmured in a low voice.
I will stop all of this. I will not let Brother become a sacrifice.
Within her mind, Na'er's childish yet resolute voice echoed stubbornly.
A mocking curve appeared on Gu Yuena's lips as she replied irritably in her heart, If you want to die, don't drag me down with you.
Pure White End? What kind of existence was that? It was the catastrophe that had swept across the multiverse and brought ultimate annihilation, the end that erased countless civilizations and returned all existence to nothingness.
Wasn't this world so chaotic, filled everywhere with temporal visitors who should not exist, precisely because the existence of Pure White End itself had caused a cascading collapse throughout the entire cosmic system after ascending the supreme divine throne?
Even at her peak, as a God King-level Silver Dragon King, she would have been as insignificant as an ant before such an existence.
Perhaps that being would not even need to act personally. A mere calamity vanguard from its Burning Legion would be enough to erase her completely.
Faced with terror of that level, even one as proud as her had no choice but to lower her noble head.
However, for the future of the Soul Beast race and for her own survival, she had no other choice. She could only seek profit alongside a tiger and cooperate with a Destruction Grand Duke from the Burning Legion.
It was also that Grand Duke who had revealed the information about Bai Mo to her.
The purpose was simple: get close to Bai Mo, influence him subtly over time, and ultimately guide him into becoming the vessel through which Pure White End would descend upon this universe.
But who could have expected that, because of the accident during her transformation, the one being influenced had instead become her?
Whenever she thought of the personality split off inside her mind, Gu Yuena felt a headache coming on.
Although the Burning Legion was temporarily being held outside this universe by the Anti-End Alliance, the fact that the Destruction Grand Duke could contact her so easily told her that the other side was definitely brewing an enormous conspiracy.
She did not think highly of that so-called alliance, but it was still too early to think about such things. Even if the sky fell, she first had to resolve the trouble right before her.
Gu Yuena made her decision.
She could no longer be affected by Na'er, that unstable factor. She had to completely separate this personality from herself. Even if doing so greatly weakened her strength, it was still better than remaining mentally split forever.
Although she possessed seventy percent of the body's power and held the dominant position, Na'er could still occasionally seize an opportunity to take control.
The foolish act of giving away her reverse scale had been the little girl's own doing. Thinking of that, Gu Yuena no longer hesitated.
She looked at Di Tian, who was still kneeling on the ground, her voice cold and resolute.
"Di Tian, return to Star Dou Forest. Before things get any worse, resolve her problem first."
In an unknowable domain that no one could explore, or even observe, pure darkness and nothingness were the eternal theme.
Suddenly, an exceptionally clean and bright female voice, as though it could cleanse the soul, rang out and shattered the ancient silence.
"You deceived her."
As the words fell, an enormous pair of violet vertical pupils slowly opened within the endless darkness.
The appearance of those eyes seemed to stain even the surrounding void with an eerie violet glow.
"She is my counterpart," another equally pleasant but ice-cold female voice said. "She can help me enter that universe."
"Why did you make her approach him?" The clean, bright voice carried a hint of warning. "Do not do anything unnecessary."
"I sent him a wife. Isn't that a good thing?" A teasing smile entered the cold voice.
"Are you... trying to start a war with me?"
This time, the bright voice was filled with undisguised killing intent.
Before the words had even faded, a scalp-numbing hum suddenly erupted through the deathly darkness—the sound of billions of insect swarms beating their wings. The noise gathered into a torrent capable of tearing apart the universe, making those violet vertical pupils narrow slightly.
