With the two guards holding guns, Wang Cheng did not dare make any rash moves.
He forced a smile and turned to ask them.
"Officers, can I help you?"
"Huh?"
Suspicion crossed the guards' faces. The man before them looked very much like their target.
But Wang Cheng was smiling and wearing a baseball cap, so they could not be sure at first.
"Don't move! Take off your cap and let me see."
One of the guards was highly alert. He pointed his gun straight at Wang Cheng's forehead, less than five centimeters away.
The cold muzzle, with crystal core energy flickering inside it, felt intensely threatening.
One light pull of the trigger, and Wang Cheng's life would be over.
Having his life in someone else's hands, being threatened like this, felt truly awful.
Resentment welled up inside Wang Cheng, steadily gathering between his brows. Still, he cooperated and slowly removed his cap.
The two guards' eyes widened. They recognized him at once.
"It's him!"
Wang Cheng reacted in a flash, grabbing the guard's gun barrel.
Startled, the guard instinctively pulled the trigger.
Wang Cheng twisted the muzzle aside and tilted his head out of the way.
Boom!
A deafening blast exploded right beside his ear. The terrifying sound wave seemed about to pierce his eardrum, leaving his head buzzing as though countless bees were droning endlessly inside it.
The two guards were badly startled as well.
"Die!"
Wang Cheng had been ready. He drew a short knife and thrust it straight into the guard's chest.
Shlick!
He had followed Lin Dong's teachings faithfully. The strike pierced the guard's heart with precision.
The blade went in clean and came out red.
Warm blood splashed across Wang Cheng's face, and another surge of resentment flowed into the space between his brows.
