Background / History

Lin Dong lost his parents before he was old enough to remember them and grew up in an orphanage. Upon reaching legal age, he inherited their estate, including the assets that later became his livestock farm, supermarket, and two properties. He gradually expanded those businesses before the apocalypse. 1

Reborn with knowledge of the coming disaster, Lin Dong treated flesh and blood as the foundation of zombie evolution. Ten days before the apocalypse, he slaughtered his farm’s livestock, ordered massive quantities of frozen meat and blood, and filled his storage space with survival goods, weapons, generators, solar panels, and even an excavator. To finance the preparations, he sold his farm to Zhao Peng for 120 million yuan and borrowed another 80 million using his remaining properties as collateral. 1 2 3

When the Blood Sun triggered the apocalypse, Lin Dong isolated himself in his twentieth-floor residence and evolved by consuming his stored meat. Once he reached C-rank, he began recruiting zombies with useful traits rather than relying on mindless undead: the former athlete Little Eight, the powerful fitness trainer Tank, and the highly intelligent Doctor Zombie. 4 5 17

Lin Dong later killed Xu Shan, his former girlfriend, after discovering that she had lured him into an ambush with three male students. At Jiangbei University, he instead spared his warehouse manager Su Xiaorou because her usefulness as a cleaner, cook, and assistant outweighed her value as food. 10 12 16

Appearance

Lin Dong is a handsome young man with fair skin, sharply defined features, and an unusually immaculate appearance. Early in the apocalypse, his skin is pale and bloodless, giving him a sickly look; after further evolution, he can speak and appear nearly indistinguishable from a human. 4 7 17

Personality

Lin Dong is calculating, patient, and intensely resource-focused. Rather than rushing into danger, he stockpiles supplies, evolves in safety, recruits specialized subordinates, and lets enemies exhaust themselves before acting. His retained human habits are selective. He is obsessed with cleanliness, avoids physical contact, bathes and changes clothes after hunts, and keeps his residence orderly even as society collapses. 1 3 24

Lin Dong is largely indifferent to human suffering, but memories of his orphanage friends Cheng Luoyi and Sun Xiaoqiang still provoke rare warmth and nostalgia. Around them, he shares food, reminisces about childhood, and guides their group through his territory without harming them. 20 47 48 49

His connection to ordinary human morality continues to weaken. He struggles to understand concepts such as hostages and evaluates people chiefly by their usefulness, danger, or nutritional value. 13 49
