Francesca had nearly died. The Holy Lance's power had grazed the airship.

Although it had not scored a direct hit, it had still caused a crash.

The air currents from the ensuing clash of Noble Phantasms had sent the airship flying miles and miles away.

The cables originally secured beneath the airship had finally failed under the strain and snapped.

The air currents had blown her and her Magic Workshop straight into a ravine.

Fortunately, the Magic Workshop had been fitted with numerous defensive barriers, saving her from dying in the crash. Otherwise, her life would have ended right there.

Francesca and François finally managed to climb out of the wreckage and surveyed their unfamiliar surroundings.

Looking at the crystals covering the area, Francesca asked, "Where are we?"

François said, "You're the modern one, and you're asking me, a historical figure?"

Suddenly, a low, quavering murmur caught their attention, drawing their gazes involuntarily toward a cave in the ravine. Only something inhuman could have made that sound.

Ordinary people could not hear that sound. Even mages could not hear it—or rather, could not understand it.

But the two of them possessed Beelzebub's bloodline and could understand sounds on many different levels.

Yet understanding it was precisely what made it terrifying. Francesca finally remembered where they were.

This was a place where even True Ancestors among Dead Apostles and Grands among mages might enter and never return.

"Crystal Ravine," the place where ORT, the Fifth Ancestor among the True Ancestors, slumbered.

And that sound had been a sign of an imminent awakening. Had the battle outside woken it up?!

More and more sounds reached their ears. Those sounds carried magical energy, bewitching them into unconsciously seeking their source.

Guided by the sounds, the two unwittingly went to investigate, following countless branching
