Metatron fell from the sky, her enormous body slowly shrinking.
Riding her throne, Jeanne d'Arc caught her in midair.
By then, Metatron's body had shrunk to exactly the same size as Jeanne d'Arc's.
Standing together now, the two were impossible to tell apart.
The throne unfurled the wings wrapped around the cherub.
"Metatron, you lost in the end," the cherub said. "But rest assured, I will lead the angels to new heights."
"I lost," Metatron said. "You can kill me or imprison me, but I hope you will spare the ordinary people behind me. They are innocent."
"To think you're still lost in your own ideals," the cherub said. "Our betrayal was clearly the right choice."
"No! This isn't betrayal. This is a necessary holy war to set history back on its proper course. Angels should stand above all else."
The cherub began gathering power. Its next Universal Insight would end this battle.
The destruction of Metatron's throne had damaged her authority and, indirectly, affected Jeanne d'Arc as well.
