Background / History

Mordred was a knight of Camelot who rebelled against King Arthur during the Battle of Camlann. Artoria later admits that Mordred possessed ability, ambition, and an overwhelming need for recognition—a need Artoria refused to acknowledge, both as a knight and in a more personal capacity. Their conflict culminated in both dying at Camlann. 41 49 51

After the battle, Merlin found Mordred’s body before her soul fully dispersed and divided the soul into three parts. One-third was sealed in a cabinet, another was entrusted to the Lady of the Lake, and the final third was taken by Merlin himself. 45
