Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nurtured Magic Treasure | 221 | A Magic Treasure may be blood-bound to a cultivator, housed in the Purple Mansion as a life-bound treasure, and nourished by True Essence; longer nourishment increases its power. |
| Magic Treasure Embryo → Magic Treasure | 480 | A properly nurtured embryo has a high chance of becoming a Grade 1 Magic Treasure; even failure can produce a quasi-Magic Treasure surpassing a Spirit Artifact. |
| Artifact Spirit-bearing Magic Treasure | 899 | Developing an Artifact Spirit greatly strengthens a Magic Treasure and grants it potential to advance further. |
| Wuchen nearing Artifact Spirit birth | 918 | The top-tier third-grade Wuchen fly whisk had been nurtured for a millennium and was expected to rival a fourth-grade Magic Treasure if its Artifact Spirit emerged. |
| Spiritual Embryo enhancement | 1175 1176 | A formless Magic Treasure Spiritual Embryo can merge into an existing Magic Treasure to raise its rank and power, bypassing much of the usual integration period. |
Classification
Magic Treasures are superior to Spirit Artifacts and possess enough power to be described as capable of destroying worlds. They are intensely sought after even by Nascent Soul cultivators. 221 328
| Treasure class | Defining distinction |
|---|---|
| Spirit Artifact | Lower-grade artifact class; a Magic Treasure that loses all spirituality can degrade into a Spirit Artifact. 1421 |
| Magic Treasure | Spiritual, cultivator-refined treasure class that can be nourished, life-bound, and potentially develop an Artifact Spirit. 221 587 |
| Spiritual Treasure | A class above Magic Treasures and below Immortal Artifacts; all Spiritual Treasures possess Artifact Spirits and are divided into low-, mid-, high-, and top-grade. 1990 |
| Immortal Artifact | A higher treasure class than Spiritual Treasures. 1990 |
The term “Magic Treasure” can also be used broadly for cultivator treasures in general, including magical artifacts, Spirit Artifacts, and Spiritual Treasures. 2290
Refinement and Nourishment
- Magic Treasures may be recognized through a blood pact, becoming life-bound to their owner and continuously nourished by True Essence. 221
- A successfully blood-recognized Magic Treasure can be controlled as naturally as a limb and stored within a cultivator’s dantian. 587
- Unrefined Magic Treasures respond sluggishly in battle; refinement establishes a direct connection with the wielder’s consciousness. 1625
- Functional treasures often require special activation methods beyond simply injecting True Essence. Their control methods are generally acquired during first refinement. 2291
- Long-term nourishment improves control, flexibility, and the power a treasure can display. 2987
- A cultivator can erase residual Spiritual Sense imprints from a former owner before refining a seized Magic Treasure for personal use. 2987
Grade and Wielding Limits
| Factor | Documented effect |
|---|---|
| Grade | Magic Treasure power increases exponentially with each grade. 482 |
| Golden Core cultivation | Golden Core cultivators can unleash some power from Magic Treasures below Grade 3 when handled correctly. 480 |
| High-grade treasures | Even Nascent Soul cultivators cannot easily activate a seventh-grade Magic Treasure without sufficient strength and proper nurturing. 898 |
| Cultivator compatibility | A cultivator may be unable to wield a treasure beyond a certain grade; Su Shi'er considered third-grade the highest grade he could wield at the time. 899 |
| Spirituality loss | If a Magic Treasure’s spirituality dissipates completely, its grade falls and it becomes a Spirit Artifact. 1421 |
| Destruction | The destruction of a Magic Treasure can inflict backlash upon its user. 3047 |
Artifact Spirits
Magic Treasures possess considerable spirituality and may show rudimentary emotions or awareness. Particularly powerful treasures can eventually form Artifact Spirits, which substantially increase their power. 587
Natural Formation
A Magic Treasure may naturally form an Artifact Spirit when forged from highly spiritual materials and then nourished for an extremely long time with its owner’s essence and True Essence. This is considered the strongest method, but has become nearly impossible because suitable materials are scarce and the process is highly vulnerable to failure. 899
Integration of Existing Spirits
Fragments of destroyed Magic Treasures that retain Artifact Spirits, or surviving Artifact Spirits themselves, can be integrated into another Magic Treasure. The resulting increase is less significant than natural spirit birth, but remains formidable. 899
Soul Integration
Great Zhao Dynasty artifact refiners developed a method of integrating living souls into Magic Treasures through secret techniques. Such souls can grow by consuming the core essence and souls of cultivators and Demonic Beasts until they merge with the treasure as spirit-like entities. 899
- This method can theoretically achieve the effects of a true Artifact Spirit over time. 899
- It may allow even a lower-grade Spirit Artifact to host a soul if the artifact can bear the soul’s power. 899
- A soul converted into an Artifact Spirit cannot reincarnate if it is destroyed. 899
Magic Treasure Embryos
Magic Treasure Embryo
A Magic Treasure embryo is an unfinished treasure with the potential to become a true Magic Treasure through proper nurturing. It attracts fierce competition among Golden Core cultivators because it can become a Grade 1 Magic Treasure or, at minimum, a quasi-Magic Treasure stronger than a Spirit Artifact. 480
Magic Treasure Spiritual Embryo
A Magic Treasure Spiritual Embryo differs from an ordinary embryo: it has no fixed form and cannot be used directly, but can merge into an existing Magic Treasure to improve that treasure’s rank. 1175
- It is especially valuable to Nascent Soul cultivators, whose established Natal Magic Treasures are difficult and dangerous to replace. 1175
- Integrating a Spiritual Embryo can raise a treasure’s power without requiring the usual lengthy period of nurturing and compatibility-building. 1175
- Madam Mei used a sixth-grade Magic Treasure Spiritual Embryo to enhance her Magic Treasure, greatly increasing its power. 1176
