History

Cangshan Mountain Range era

The Yun Ge Sect was established in the Cangshan Mountain Range and developed over hundreds of years through the combined efforts of its Sect Master, Peak Masters, Elders, and disciples. By the twentieth Seven Peaks Grand Competition, it had reached a stable scale, though its seven peak factions retained strong internal rivalries. 120

Its early structure consisted of seven principal peaks: Tianshu, Tianhua, Tianyin, Yuntai, Chaoyang, Luoyan, and Luofu. Tianshu Peak served as the main peak and rarely recruited disciples, while the other six peaks periodically recruited mortals with spiritual roots. 5

The sect accepted Han Yu, Zhu Hanwei, Su Shi'er, and other children during one such recruitment period. Lu Mingshi, Peak Master of Luofu Peak, personally brought the recruits back to the sect with his granddaughter Xiao Yue. 4 5

Expansion and the Eighth Peak

During the twentieth Seven Peaks Grand Competition, Ren Yunzong announced plans to establish an eighth peak. The tournament champion would become its candidate, a decision tied to the sect's growing resources and ambition to strengthen itself. 120

The sect later revised its promotion rules: disciples who achieved Foundation Establishment were ordinarily promoted to Elder and permitted to change their peak affiliation once. In the revised arrangement, Foundation Establishment cultivators from the following twenty years could compete for the position of Eighth Peak Master. 161

Su Shi'er eventually became the Eighth Peak Master, though he learned of the appointment only after returning to the sect following a long absence. 299

Heavenly Absolute Secret Realm and the Righteous–Evil conflict

The Yun Ge Sect dispatched large numbers of Foundation Establishment Elders to the Heavenly Absolute Secret Realm. Its access to passage tokens and its deployment of new disciples from every peak indicated a broader sect plan that many participants, including Su Shi'er, did not know in advance. 211 281

The sect’s actions against the Blood Spirit Sect provoked the Xuan Yin Sect, whose Elder Demon Jiyin accused Yun Ge of annihilating the Blood Spirit Sect and attempting to start a wider war in Cangshan. 215

During the ensuing struggle between the Righteous Path Alliance and the Evil Path Alliance, the Yun Ge Sect received support from Divine Forge Manor and deployed the Seven Absolute Killing Formation. Its ancestors’ millennium-long preparations also produced the seventh-grade flying-sword Magic Treasure known as the Thousand Year Strike. 299 329

Destruction, reconstruction, and the darkness calamity

Su Shi'er later found the Yun Ge Sect consumed by fire, its peaks strewn with the bodies of disciples and Elders. Most of the dead appeared to have been Qi Refining cultivators who had fought opponents of similar cultivation before dying. 292

In a later period, the sect was attacked by the Xuan Yin Sect and allied forces. It survived through its formations, outside support, and the formation of the Righteous Path Alliance, but its situation remained unstable as major factions converged on Yunhan Seven Peaks Mountain. 299

The sect was subsequently found shrouded in dark evil aura, with vengeful spirits and ghosts roaming its territory. Ren Yunzong and surviving members began a reconstruction effort, intending to recruit new disciples, contact scattered former members, eliminate evil spirit ghost cultivators, and investigate the Sacred Spirit Cult. 1354 1406 1407

War against the Sacred Spirit Cult and Sinful Path

After reopening its gates in eastern Muyun Prefecture, the sect faced severe shortages of loyal recruits, cultivation resources, and manpower. It nevertheless resisted the Sinful Path and the Sacred Spirit Cult while refining a seventh-grade Magic Treasure intended to break the dark evil formation. 1506

Ren Yunzong defended the sect against Mu Yuanji of the Sacred Spirit Cult and the Bald Monk of the Sinful Path, using a Secret Law to redirect attacks through spatial fluctuations. The sect ultimately repelled the invasion with assistance from the Mist Concealment Sect and Donghai Mu Family cultivators. 1515 1527

Leizhou period and renewed growth

Following the demonic calamity in Muyun Prefecture, the Yun Ge Sect joined the regional cultivator alliance. Though initially marginalized because of its strained relationship with the Mist Concealment Sect, it later gained support from Leizhou after Ren Yunzong traveled to the Endless Sea. 1566

The sect relocated with other survivors to Leizhou and grew into one of the region’s ten major powers. Its disciples later endured a major attack by the White Bone Sect, which attempted to seize the sect’s mountain gate and sixth-grade Spirit Vein. 2329 2332 2346

Ren Yunzong’s return dramatically strengthened the sect’s standing. By this period, he had reached the Body Integration stage and used overwhelming force to deter hostile factions from targeting Yun Ge Sect. 2365 2366

Return to Muyun Prefecture

The sect eventually established a new headquarters on the former grounds of the Phantom Star Sect, becoming one of Muyun Prefecture’s leading sects. Its new mountain gate was substantially more imposing than its earlier base in Cangshan. 2642

Despite this growth, the sect later suffered pressure from Tiandu, which had defeated other major factions and seized their resources. Yun Ge Sect lost three consecutive challenges and risked losing its last Spirit Stone Mine, while many disciples were captured during Lady Tianyun’s assault. 3448 3451

Yun Ge Nine Sword Art

The Yun Ge Nine Sword Art is a high-level sect sword technique capable of producing Sword Light True Essence. It allows a cultivator to control up to nine flying swords at once and forms the basis of the Yun Ge Nine Sword Formation. 141

• The technique was a reward for the Seven Peaks Grand Competition. 194

Internal Changes

Zhu Hanwei entered life-and-death seclusion roughly a century before Su Shi’er’s later return. With several Peak Masters also absent in long-term seclusion, Great Elder Xu Qingfeng gained control over the sect’s resources and decisions through Tianshu Peak. 4037 4040

Yi Chunqiu, once an important disciple, was reduced to cleaning waste pills and suffered injuries that damaged his cultivation foundation. He warned Su Shi’er that his former master had instructed him not to trust members of Tianshu Peak. 4040

The discovery beneath Tianshu Peak confirmed that Xu Qingfeng’s influence extended beyond administration: he had secretly incorporated the seven peaks’ earth veins into an alternate formation hub, giving him hidden leverage over the sect’s primary defenses. 4046
