• Variable size — It can grow from palm-sized to taller than a person when supplied with power; unlike the imitation furnace, its size is not fixed 115 697 737.
• Tempering light — A condensed, continuous light appears inside it while it refines objects 737.
• Activated form — Under a control seal, it becomes jade-like and releases an ancient aura; after Su Shi'er learns a collection method, it appears as a purer, jade-like furnace in his Dantian 3426 3432.

Tempering

The furnace removes impurities and can improve the quality or power of what it refines 698 1529.

• It transforms spirit pills into top-grade pills, including pills Su Shi'er had already made; he cannot use it to perform alchemy directly 511.
• It upgrades some magic artifacts and strengthens successfully tempered treasures even when their grades do not rise 115 698.
• Tempering can fail and destroy an item. Su Shi'er therefore declines to risk his rare Li Fire Furnace before using it to make the Spirit Sculpting Pill 115 512.
• It has tempered Spirit Devouring Rats, but Su Shi'er's later attempts with other demonic beasts failed, depleting their essence, energy, and spirit 891 2289.

Energy refinement

• After Su Shi'er refines the furnace with his blood and brings it into his Dantian, it absorbs and tempers his spiritual energy, aiding his cultivation 1793 1794.
• It refines tribulation lightning into a compact sphere. Eighteen thunder-filled spheres from Su Shi'er's past Six-Nine Heavenly Tribulation are later found inside it 1824 3791.

History

Su Shi'er begins using the furnace to strengthen his artifacts while under pressure from the Grand Elder. For years, he relies on its tempering effect without making it recognize him as its master 115 511. Information appearing on the Spiritual Turtle's carapace points him toward a refinement method; he later uses the Blood Refining Method to establish a weak connection with the furnace 1629 1793.

Su Shi'er puts his main body inside the furnace to temper it, but the process continues for a hundred days and reduces the body to a child-like form. He eventually interrupts the light with a control art and removes his body, at great cost to his Immortal Essence 2053 2289 2292.

Later control attempts cause the furnace's aura to erupt, collapse Ten Thousand Zhang Mountain, and draw the attention of factions seeking to seize it. Su Shi'er manages to suppress the aura and return the furnace to his Dantian, though full control still eludes him 3426 3428 3432 4030.

Artifact Spirit and Origin

• The Demon Emperor describes the furnace as incomplete because it lacks an artifact spirit. Feng Jianxing independently confirms the spirit's absence and says Su Shi'er cannot fully control the treasure without it 3139 4030.
• Su Shi'er later understands that the missing artifact spirit is in the hands of the mysterious Demon Race Great Emperor 3292.
• True Person Tianheng says the furnace was refined with the Six Realms Origin as its core material and is the only treasure able to bear that origin's power 3778.
• An ancient prophecy links the furnace's opening to the Six Realms returning to their origin; neither Su Shi'er nor the Mystic Woman Avatar knows why that unification would occur 3292.
