First Appearance Chapter 3

Background

Gu Yuena had secretly remained near the Lake of Life in the Star Dou Great Forest. When Li Qinglian was born, she inferred his unusual identity and had him transplanted to the lake, later watching the Goddess of Life's attachment to him as a potential source of leverage. She used the danger of the God of Destruction learning of Li Qinglian to force a non-hostile arrangement with the Goddess of Life. 3 4

Seeking a relationship with Li Qinglian beyond that of superior and subordinate, she asked him to give her a human name. He named her Gu Yuena, a name that immediately resonated with her. 4

Gu Yuena views the Dragon Clan's decline as a consequence of the Dragon God's catastrophe and the God Realm's continuing fear of a Dragon Clan resurgence. She considers humanity physically weak but uniquely capable of integrating external powers, making Li Qinglian's human rebirth a source of exceptional potential. 5 28 50

After Li Qinglian returned to the Star Dou Great Forest six years later, Gu Yuena became increasingly invested in his path toward the fusion of life and death. His Death Divine Tree's growth of life-bearing leaves convinced her that he could advance toward Reincarnation and potentially stand on the level of the Silver and Golden Dragon Kings. 27 28 29

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, she identified the site as the burial ground of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King. The discovery stirred grief for the lost Dragon Clan, but she also guided Li Qinglian toward using its legacy to strengthen himself. 49 50 51

Gu Yuena eventually committed to aiding Li Qinglian's Body Refinement research from the shadows. She sees an alternative human cultivation system—one not dependent on hunting soul beasts for Soul Rings—as a strategic answer to the God Realm's threat against soul beasts. 78 79

Appearance

Gu Yuena is depicted as an otherworldly silver-haired beauty whose features carry the natural pride of the dragon race. Her presence and aura are overwhelming even to powerful Soul Masters. 3 49 69

  • Long silver-white hair and silver eyes 4 28
  • High, straight nose; lightly pursed lips; slightly upturned eyes 3
  • A cold, regal bearing tempered by increasingly visible warmth around Li Qinglian 102 103
  • Studies human clothing and favors elegant dresses rather than overtly provocative attire 69

Personality

Gu Yuena is proud, direct, and intensely conscious of the Dragon Clan's lost status. She measures alliances by whether they can protect soul beasts and counter the God Realm, initially treating Li Qinglian as an investment whose future strength could reshape the balance of power. 28 29 79

She is also patient and politically shrewd when necessary. Her first encounter with the Goddess of Life demonstrates her willingness to exploit knowledge rather than rely on force, while her later decision to act through Li Qinglian reflects her awareness that open action would expose her. 3 4 79

Despite her authority, Gu Yuena is emotionally transparent in personal matters. She becomes jealous of the Goddess of Life, reacts badly when Li Qinglian rejects being her “little man,” and repeatedly hides concern for him behind claims that she is merely protecting her investment. 31 51 102 103
