The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's stronghold was a sea of flames. Fire raged as though it meant to consume and destroy everything.
An armchair stood in the center of the square. Qian Daoliu sat in it, calmly watching it all while Qian Xunji massaged his shoulders and back from behind.
"A little to the left... Mm, now a little to the right..." Qian Daoliu rested with his eyes closed, speaking up now and then.
Qian Xunji adjusted his hands as instructed. "Father, you've worked hard today. That ninth Soul Skill of yours... just how strong is it?"
"My ninth Soul Skill?" A faint smile touched Qian Daoliu's lips. "Very strong! But my ninth Soul Skill isn't our greatest strength. That would be the Qian Clan's ancestral Angel Swordsmanship!"
"Angel Swordsmanship?" Qian Xunji blinked. "Is our family's Angel Swordsmanship really that powerful?"
It wasn't that he didn't know it. It just hadn't seemed nearly that powerful to him. As far as he could tell, it was merely a somewhat advanced sword technique.
"Heh. What would you know?" Qian Daoliu said disdainfully. "With that dog brain of yours, I doubt you'll grasp the essence of Angel Swordsmanship in this lifetime!"
"Uh..." Qian Xunji felt deeply insulted, but the words had come from his father. He couldn't argue.
"It's over..." Qian Daoliu said slowly. As a Level-Ninety-Nine Peerless Douluo, his senses reached an immense distance.
Even while enjoying the massage Qian Xunji was giving him, he had kept track of Spirit Hall's operation.
Now, the only living people left in the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan were its leader, Yu Yuanzhen, and his good-for-nothing son, Yu Xiaogang. Everyone else lay dead on the ground.
Five thousand battle-ready Soul Masters, five Titled Douluo, the Angel Legion, and Great Enshrined Qian Daoliu had been mobilized without warning. With that force, destroying the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had been all too easy.
By tomorrow, the news would sweep across the Douluo Continent and cause an uproar.
The damage caused by Bibi Dong's betrayal of Spirit Hall would vanish in an instant, and Spirit Hall's prestige would rise higher than ever.
After all, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan was one of the Upper Three Sects and possessed what was called the strongest Beast Martial Soul. Yet it had been wiped out overnight.
Who would dare speak against Spirit Hall now? Who would dare underestimate it?
"His Holiness the Pope, Great Enshrined..." Yue Guan and the others arrived with Yu Yuanzhen and Yu Xiaogang and bowed respectfully.
"We have fulfilled our mission. We've brought you Yu Yuanzhen, leader of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, and the man who led the Holy Maiden astray."
Qian Daoliu slowly raised his eyes and met Yu Yuanzhen's gaze.
"Qian Daoliu?" Yu Yuanzhen stared at him in a daze. "Then the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's destruction was no injustice."
"I never imagined that even you, the man once called invincible in the skies, would take action. How could our clan have survived?"
Yu Yuanzhen had resigned himself to it. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan was gone. What use was there in saying anything more?
"There is one thing I hope you'll tell me, Senior Qian Daoliu," Yu Yuanzhen said through clenched teeth.
"Go on..." Qian Daoliu's tone was cold, as if Yu Yuanzhen meant nothing to him.
And in truth, he didn't.
"Why? Why did Spirit Hall suddenly decide to destroy the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan? What did we do wrong?"
Qian Xunji froze at the question. So did the four elders: Yue Guan, Gui Mei, Demon Bear, and Ghost Leopard.
"Do you truly not know, or do you refuse to admit it?" Qian Daoliu sneered, leaning forward to look at him.
"You know why Spirit Hall struck at the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. You know why we finally chose to act. You simply refuse to admit it."
"The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan endured for thousands of years. Who would have thought it would meet such an absurd end because of one useless fool..."
Qian Daoliu glanced at Yu Xiaogang beside Yu Yuanzhen. At some point, Yu Xiaogang had wet himself in terror. Literally.
"I..." Yu Yuanzhen choked out. Of course he knew the reason. He simply hadn't expected the consequences to be this severe.
"Spirit Hall is merciful. Spirit Hall protects the continent. Your Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan has records of this: ten thousand years ago, our ancestor founded Spirit Hall..."
Qian Daoliu spoke sentence by sentence, and Yu Yuanzhen listened to every word like a student receiving a lesson from his teacher.
"Spirit Hall gave you a year. In all that time, did you send anyone to apologize? You were arrogant—far more arrogant than Spirit Hall!"
"You thought that because Spirit Hall hadn't sent anyone, we didn't care. You thought we wouldn't dare touch you. After all, you were one of the Upper Three Sects!"
Every word struck home. "Month after month passed, and no one from Spirit Hall came to hold you accountable. Little by little, you stopped worrying. You even called Spirit Hall weak!"
"The whole continent knows that Spirit Hall's Holy Maiden, its next pope, betrayed it."
"Did you honestly think Spirit Hall didn't care? Do you know what people called us? Coward Hall."
"Everyone in Spirit Hall was burning with anger, yet we still gave you ample time to make amends..."
"You had a year and plenty of choices. But you chose a path to your own destruction—all because of him?"
Qian Daoliu looked at Yu Xiaogang, who was scared half to death. "I'd long heard how much you favored this son of yours. It seems the rumors were true."
"Because of your son, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan suffered this calamity today..."
Qian Daoliu looked around. More than five thousand battle-ready Soul Masters had completed their mission and stood waiting nearby, while over a hundred members of the Angel Legion hovered overhead.
"I..." Yu Yuanzhen's voice caught. He had known all along why Spirit Hall might act, but he had refused to believe it.
Now Qian Daoliu—the man invincible in the skies, his senior—had told him plainly. What good would it do to keep deceiving himself?
They had had a whole year. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had been so arrogant that it had done nothing. When Spirit Hall failed to come demanding answers, they had convinced themselves they would be spared.
Yet Yu Yuanzhen had heard what people across the Douluo Continent were saying. At times, he had even realized that if they did nothing, disaster might truly befall them.
In the end, he had still done nothing. One month passed, then another, until a full year was gone.
Did he regret it? Of course. But what could he do now? It had happened. Thousands of years of the clan's legacy had been destroyed on his watch.
