Arc 1The Rebel in Scrapheap Town

Xiang Shan recovered his name and began rebuilding his body while teaching Youji about Inner Power and the Vagrants. When Scrapheap Town lost its Civilization Protection, Leif defeated its hired martial artists and moved to recruit Paulus.

  • Youji found a damaged head in a garbage heap, and the man awoke without memories as Yawg before remembering that he was a rebel.
  • Yawg rebuilt a crude prosthetic body and defeated Will Grand Dog during Ya Ningping’s brutal Gene Tax trial, recovering his name as Xiang Shan.
  • Xiang Shan learned about the year 209 and began teaching Youji about Inner Power, Vagrants, and the Turing Machine.
  • The mayor asked Xiang Shan to help defend Scrapheap Town after its Gene Tax shortfall threatened its Civilization Protection, and Xiang Shan began rebuilding his body from Will’s parts.
  • Xiang Shan discovered that Youji’s brain chip secretly sent information to the rulers, then blocked its remote access and replaced its surveillance feed with fabricated images.
  • Leif killed Vili, questioned Enoch about Xiang Shan, and later arrived as the welfare officer ended Scrapheap Town’s protection.
  • Leif defeated Anthony, Longkoni, and Paulus by using Inner Power and a steel rod to turn their attacks against them.
  • Leif and Jingbao Kui assessed Paulus’s martial arts potential, and Leif told Paulus he had to join their organization to live.

Arc 2The Road Out of Town

Xiang Shan defeated Leif’s gang and Geliad, then left Recycling Station Town after deciding not to take Youji with him. When the welfare officer intervened and Xiang Shan killed him, Xiang Shan fled with the critically injured Youji and continued searching for supplies and Mule.

  • Leif forced Paulus to join the bandits, then pursued Yulia and Youji, but Xiang Shan emerged from the shack and fought him to protect the boy.
  • Xiang Shan used a hacked command to overheat Leif and Jingbao Kui’s prosthetics, killed Paulus and Leif, and defeated Jingbao Kui and Longkoni.
  • After Doctor Schultz fitted him with Longkoni’s prosthetic arms, Xiang Shan learned Enoch had arranged the fighting-ring incident and resolved to prepare for future battles against the Father of All Machines.
  • Xiang Shan declined Youji’s request to leave town with him, but Enoch attacked as Xiang Shan prepared to depart, and Geliad began sniping at the town’s civilians.
  • Xiang Shan evaded Geliad’s gunfire, reached him through the wreckage, and killed him, taking his storage unit and martial arts chip.
  • Enoch destroyed Yulia’s vehicle, but Xiang Shan stopped him before the welfare officer arrived and ordered Xiang Shan to stand down.
  • Xiang Shan defeated the welfare officer’s guards, killed the officer, and escaped with Youji in the officer’s aircraft before missiles destroyed it.
  • Xiang Shan kept Youji alive with a cable from his own battery, replaced his exhausted engine with Geliad’s transmitter, and set out to find supplies and Mule.
